Epilogue.

Three years later...

Jack P.O.V

I sat at the table, glancing at each postcard that she had sent. The first one was an apology note and the second a detailed explanation of why she left.

"Still no sign of her coming home."

I turned to see Adam leaning against the door frame looking concerned as usual.

"No, it seems she is living life to the full."

"She does deserve it, but I would have thought she would return after a year or two."

"Me too but this is Eva we are talking about."

We both sighed which caused us to laugh then a young woman walked in, she smiled at me then handed me a few letters.

"Thank you, now if you would excuse me, I have paperwork to complete."

Adam smiled as I grabbed the postcards and walked to my room, I looked at each envelope and frowned as I noticed an unusual envelope, but then I recognised the handwriting, so I dropped the others on my bed and opened it, I smiled as I started to read.

My dearest Jack,

I hope that you are well; I thought I would write a letter to you because there is only so much you can write on a postcard.

Anyway, I have visited so many places however I am unable to settle even after all the time that has passed. I know you can't write back because I keep moving. However, I would like to see that you are well, so I have decided to return one last time. So please meet me where it all began at midnight. If you choose not to come, I would completely understand as you may have moved on and don't want to see me.

From Evangelina.

I stared at the paper in shock. There was so much I wanted to say. I checked the clock and cursed, I had half an hour or get there, so I shot up, grabbed my jacket and quickly made my way downstairs.

I glanced around feeling uneasy; I pulled my collar up around my neck. I felt like I was being watched, so I glanced around again.

"I didn't think you would come here."

I turned around to see a young girl leaning against the wall, she wore a white shirt with black legging and knee-high black heels. Her hair is in a short wavy bob.

"Evangelina?"

"Hello, Jack."

"You look so different! I didn't recognise you."

She laughed softly as she walked to me and threw her arms around my neck; I smiled as I hugged her tightly.

"Is he still locked up?"

I knew who she was referring to.

"Yes, still in the basement."

I felt her relax against me.

"Good, is Adam any closer?"

"No, but he hasn't given up."

She sighed and pulled away then she smiled at me.

"How are you anyway? I got every postcard you sent."

She smiled then looked around.

"Shall we go somewhere else? I don't know why I said to meet here."

I smiled then sighed as I took her hands into mine. She looked at me and frowned.

"My dear Evangelina, you chose this place because like you said this is the place where it all started."

I turned her, so she was facing the building then I placed my hands on her shoulders.

"This is the place it all started, you lost your family and your life but now look how far you have come. When you faced your nightmares and fears you came back stronger so much stronger, you aren't that the little-lost girl that I knew all those years ago. You are finally at peace with yourself."

I felt her lean back on to me, so I wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my head on her shoulder as she placed her hands on mine.

"I have finally fully accepted myself; she is as much a part of me as I am of her. I shouldn't be scared, and I'm not."

She turned to me and smiled, I noticed her eyes were filling up.

"I am not scared Jack, I feel free and so happy."

I smiled softly at her.

"I came here to say goodbye properly, but I realised that this is my home."

She turned to look at the building and sighed.

"After all the travelling it is funny to think that I would end up back here. Do you know that I have been here for the last year? I used most of the last of the money to buy a bungalow, and I lived there, but I was going to leave then you come here tonight, and I changed my mind."

"If you really feel at peace, please stay because I couldn't take it if you left again so stay Eva, stay here with me."

I grabbed her hands, holding them tightly as three years of missing her hit me.

"Please Eva, no more running or hiding. Let us have that life we had before Deathchace interrupted, and you felt that you needed to run to protect me."

She smiled shyly as she watched me then she looked at the ground.

"Please Eva, stay with me, and whatever gets thrown at us, we can handle together."

"Ok! Ok! I will stay for you."

She laughed as she wrapped her arms around my neck. I smiled as I wrapped my arms around her and gently kissed her.

After a few minutes, she pulled away from me. I frowned as she took my hand and started to lead me away. She had new energy around her, she was happier and stronger. I smiled as I let her lead me down the road.

"Let's go home, Jack."
