It had been almost 3 hours since she'd woken up to an immaculate house and Elsie was already excruciatingly bored. At this point, it was already late in the afternoon, and there was nothing that Elsie could fill her time with.

Sure, there was always the television; but that was what she'd been doing since she woke up and, frankly, that was what she'd been doing ever since her relationship ended a few weeks ago.

God, she felt pathetic. 'A few weeks' was, in reality, almost a month. She'd been on her own for almost a month and she still couldn't get her shit together. She didn't have anything without Samuel. He was the warm sunshine on her face on a sunny day; without him the sun didn't shine.

Okay, fine, the sun still shone. Her broken heart made her feel sick, the little bitch of a heart, it felt like it had been ripped out and stamped on.

The one thing that Samuel did take with him was her ability to afford her home.

It was ironic though, when she was a little girl she swore to herself that she would never rely on a man.

Elsie's eyes glistened with unshed tears as she thought of all the things she'd given up for the man that she thought would be the one.

How could she be so stupid?

She'd had everything going for her when she'd met Sam; a stable job, an amazing friend group, she'd even had a gym membership.

A bloody gym membership.

She couldn't have ever seen the hurricane coming into her life when she'd met samuel. He'd seemed like an angel. He definitely didn't seem like someone who would leave her for a doorstep whore.

That wasn't fair.

It wasn't fair that Sam had asked her to leave her job, it wasn't fair that Samuel felt threatened when she'd gone out with her friends.

Most of all, it wasn't fair that Samuel had made her fat, then left.

She knew that she shouldn't dwell on the past, but when the past literally threatened what kind of future she has? What could she honestly do?

She could do what she should have done when he walked out of that goddamn door and call her friends, but she wasn't even sure she could any more.

Elsie swore under her breath as she sat on the sofa. She had nothing.

Sam made himself her everything.

Even with the banging headache that she still wore, she needed more wine. Not that she could afford more wine, though. At this point, even the cheapest wine at Barry's shop was too expensive for her.

The loud beep of her phone richoched through the jackhammer in Elsie's mind, forcing her attention to the dimly lit screen. She didn't get many notifications now that she was single, Sam used to be the only person she spoke to.

One small glance at her screen was all that it took for her heart to shatter even more.
