I hope everyone's been having a great summer so far. Enjoy this chapter! :)

The exhilarating feeling pumping through my body was strong enough to cause me to tap my pen against my notepad rhythmically as I stared at the clock above the whiteboard, waiting for the clock to hit the 3PM mark. The end of the week was finaly coming to an end and you could almost feel the excitement from every person in the classroom.
Our calculus teacher, Mr. Steven, casually flipped through test papers from other classes and at times damped his finger with the tip of his tongue before he flipped over to the next sheet. He took occasional glances at the watch and then went back to the tests.
''It's like he wants to torture us,'' Chelsea whispered next to me. We decided to go straight to visit grandma after school instead of going home in between. We wouldn't, nor couldn't, spend the night there so what was the point anyways.
The clock kept ticking, driving everyone nuts. For every second that passed by it felt like the room got quieter and quieter. Mr. Steven was that kind of teacher who wouldn't let his students leave a minute earlier.
''Valuable study time'', he calls it. My ass, I call it.
30 seconds. Some students had already begun packing their things discreetly. Overlooking the classroom, I figured it wouldn't be any harm for me to do the same now that more than half of the class already started doing so.
''Okay, class. Have a nice weekend and I'll see you on Wednesday.'' Before he finished the sentence everyone rose from their seats and aimed for the exit. He sighed and began doing the same as everyone else.
Chelsea wrapped her right arm around her notepad and book. ''So. . ,'' she emphasized, ''are you ready?''
I nodded while putting everything in my backpack before we headed out.
The energy from students that Friday's brings you is not a bummer. People were on their way to either the bus or the school's parking lot. Others, like myself otherwise, walked.
''Where should we stop for food? I'm starving, I could eat a co–'' She stopped and peered over my shoulder. Licking her lips, she opened the car door and slammed it shut.
''Skyler!'' I abruptly turned around when both curiosity and confusion got the better of me. Turning around, I saw Blake walk towards me. At least now I know the reason behind Chelsea's sudden change of attitude.
I crossed my arms and leaned against the back door when he came closer. ''Can I help you?''
''What would you say about a study session?''
''A study session?''
He nodded. ''A study session.''
''With you?''
He nodded again. ''With me.'' I was a little taken back from his forwardness. But if you're stuffed to the point where you're basically choked with confident, I guess it's not a surprise. ''Who else, really?''
I shrugged; didn't think that one through. ''Why would you want to study with me?''
He let out a humorous chuckle. ''Who said anything about wanting to? Don't you think I have better things to do on a Friday night?'' He put his hand up, ''Don't answer that.''
''Well,'' I started, ''wether you're canceling your so called 'plans' or not, I can't tonight. I happen to have other plans myself.''
He hummed and nodded. ''So I'm willing so cancel my plans for you while you're not?'' He placed his hand over his heart, ''I'm hurt, Skyler.''
