I ran through the alley, trying not to splash the puddles. The coins were cold and smooth in my hand. My black clothes were very comfortable for being tight.
Just a few minutes before I was paid to kill Fusa Dearding. She was probably the best fighter in Sedret. I had to be very, very quiet because many assassins have died trying to kill her.
In a few minutes, I was behind her house. I slipped my coins into the backpack and pulled out a grappling hook. Lucky for me, there was a tall tree and an open window.
I threw the grappling hook and it caught onto tree. I quickly scaled the rope and stood on a branch. I pulled out my mask and put it on, showing only my eyes.
I ran up and jumped off the branch, grabbed her windowsill, and flipped in. I grabbed my knives out of my belt and looked around. Fusa was sleeping in her bed, getting her beauty sleep for the hunt tomorrow. She was going to find and slay Axilmeus, the dragon who destroyed half the town, just because we threatened him.
I walked over slowly and carefully. When I was two feet away from her, I tripped over a spear. Fusa jolted straight up, holding her sword. Her blonde hair was a mess. It was tangled and knotted. That didn't stop her though.
She stepped out of bed, just as I crawled to the other side of the bed. I slowly stood up. She was right in front of me, looking the opposite way. I was about to lunge when she turned around.
She dropped her sword and tackled me. She grabbed my wrist and hit it against the ground, making me drop one knife. She grabbed my other hand and twisted it until she held the knife.
Fusa held the cool metal against my neck. I knew I was going to die.
"Who are you working for?" she asked. I stayed silent, I wasn't going to rat anybody out. Unless she didn't kill me.
"Who are you working for!?" she yelled.
"If I tell you, promise me you won't kill me."
"Fine."
"The knight Sir Topher Grit. He wants to be the best fighter."
"Great, now that I know that, I can kill you."
She raised the knife. But was surprised by a sudden pop. Behind us stood an elf. Carrying a wand, staff, many amulets and rings, and a spell book.
