After a final look at Liam asleep on the couch, Zayn and Louis passed out in the backyard, Paige and Niall asleep on the table, and the front yard sprinklers soaking a few party stragglers, the disc came to an end.
"So that's what happened..." Paige murmured, tugging on a strand of hair. "Wait, what was that? About the time I came back with the fireworks. Rewind it!" Zayn pointed at the tv and patted Paige's knee expectantly. "Calm down, I'm doing it!" She shot at him, clicking the rewind button on the slick black remote. It came to a stop just as Louis sauntered out of the kitchen. "There. Press play!" Zayn said excitedly. "Now look, up there. No Niall, you idiot. Up there. You can barely see it, but I swear it's crazy. I just want to make sure I actually saw it right."
The group looked at the tv, waiting for something out of the ordinary.
That's when it happened.
A dirty blonde haired girl stood on her tiptoes and brought her lips up to meet those of a curly brown haired boy's.
But it wasn't just another party-going couple.
It was Harry and Macie.
Louis stood up immediately, clapping his hands. The others sat still, shocked. "Why are you clapping?" Niall snapped, a look of irritation written clear across his boyish features. "Because, it wasn't Paige snogging my best mate!" Louis said like it was obvious. Everyone turned to look at Paige and was shocked to see her eyes brimming with tears. This was unlike Paige. She never let anyone see her cry. Macie had only seen it once, and that was when she fell off of the stage during a Shakespeare performance.
"Macie. We need to talk. Now." Paige muttered, grabbing Macie's thin wrist with enough force to crush it. "O-okay." Macie gave a pleading look to the boys on the couch as she was dragged away, but they ignored it, the new information still registering in their minds. Had she really kissed Harry? She couldn't remember. How could they be so sure it was her? I mean yeah, they had the same clothes on, and same hair, and they were same size, but it could have been someone else! Macie didn't like Harry like that!
She was sure of it.
Besides, she was too hung up on Niall to notice anyone else at the moment.
They stopped in the kitchen. "How could you do something like that?!" Paige screamed, losing it. Macie may be a quiet girl, but she was always up for a screaming competition. "Oh, I'm sorry! I was a bit wasted at the moment if you couldn't tell! And really, Paige?! You two aren't dating, he isn't your property you know! I'm sorry I kissed him. I'm sorry that everything has to go perfectly for Paige! If Paige doesn't like it, it can't be done!" Macie shreiked. The boys had gathered in the dining room to listen, but the two girls didn't notice.
"Oh really now! You are such a drama queen, Macie! You know that?! I know he isn't my property, I know we aren't dating! But I still have a right to be upset?!"
"No you don't!" Macie interjected.
"Yes I do!!" Paige exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. "I like him, okay?! And I see the way you've been looking at Niall! Give me a chance, Macie! You can't just swoop in here and steal every one of London's cutest boys' hearts! You are always there, just flipping your hair and acting all coy! Oh, and you just have to be perfectly skinny, always starving yourself. You WITCH. You think you are SO much better than everyone else now, just because of that stupid check you got in the mail! And yeah, I didn't forget about that. Saw it in the mail on the counter. Why didn't you tell me? Some friend you are." Paige snarled, pushing past Macie and running upstairs.
"So you're gonna be like that, huh? Can't think of a proper argument, so you're bringing up the past? Great one, darling." Macie called to her, tears already beginning to well in her eyes. She leaned her elbows on the counter and put her head in her hands. This was the first argument her and Paige ever shared, and it was awful. Those things Paige said hit home for Macie. She believed they were all true, every word of it. She turned to see the boys just as a few tears slid down her cheeks. She didn't want all this attention. "I'm going for a run." She mumbled, pushing through the boys and out the front door.
