Royal Fate: Book 1

Chapter 1

I was running full force. All four paws hitting the cool morning ground. It was early fall, with a brisk cloudy morning. My furwas blowing in the and as I ran along the water. The cliffs were over th waters edge, but I could still feel and hear the water crashing against the rocks below. My guard wasn't far behind me but I was fast enough I could put run him in a heartbeat. So that's exactly what I did.

'ruby get back here, you kno your father would be very angry if he knew you were leaving my sight again'

Shawn was a good guy but my dad was always very hard on him. He was my age so he and I would be attending school together. I had been homeschooled until now. I begged my father for years to let me attend real school and meet the other pack members and humans in the area, but he never liked the idea. H thought that because we were royalty I shouldn't do normal things, but I didn't care about my royal status, I wanted to just be normal.

'sorry shawn but ill meet you back at the house'

We living in a mansion I swear. It had almost a dozen room and a HUGE basement with a war room and a cellar for outsiders. My father was very protective of our family. There was me, my sister Rose, my little brother Greg, and my mom. My mom loved to be home and cook, it was her passion. But me and my sister never loved to be locked up at home, we wanted to run and be free and that's what we planned to do when we were eighteen. We wanted to leave and start our own pack with some of the younger pack members, but that was a dream for now.

School was to start toady, in just a few hours. It was currently six in the morning and I was running home to get ready. School started at eight and I needed to shower and get dressed. Rose was probably already ready, as always. Just as I got to the house, my dad was standing outside and he was not happy. 

"Ruby! Why did you leave Shawn! You know my rules and you bluntly disobey them." I went into the outside shed and shifted back, got dressed and went back out to deal with this.

"I'm not a child anymore. I don't need a guard. Thank you for being concerned, but I can take care of myself. Now, I'm going to get ready for school."

"You're not going after this stunt!"

"Yes I am!" I said using the most authority in my voice that I could muster.

"Ruby! You will not disobey me again!"

"You promised I could go and that's final! I'm getting ready and leaving and that's final."

With that I went to my room on the third floor and slammed my door behind me. I went over to my bed and flopped down. This was ridiculous. I was fourteen and should be able to make my own decisions about having a guard and where I can go and when. But no, not according to my father, I was too irresponsible. Well I didn't have time to think about that now. Now, I needed to get ready for school. My first day at a real school. I was beyond excited, and Rose, Shawn, and Marco would be joining us. Marco was Rose's guard and they were actually really close. Me and Shawn used to be close but they I felt that I didn't need him and things went south. 

I slowly sat up and went over to my closet to get dressed. I opted for a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a black tank top. It was very comfortable and that's what I loved. I threw my hair into a messy bun and pulled on my grey converse, I was ready. I grabbed my bag and went downstairs for breakfast. I had some eggs, toast, and bacon, all cooked by my mom for our first day. Rose and Marco were already chowing down and were laughing and talking about the day. Shawn was also at the table, and he gave me a dirty look. 

"Ruby." he said with an obvious attitude in his voice.

"Shawn." I answered with the same tone.

"Oh c'mon, you two need to get along. You're going to be seeing a lot of each other at school. Dad's made it so our guards will be in every one of our classes so they can watch us." Rose said with a smile in between bites of food.

"That's insane! I think I can take care of myself in a school of other kids my age." 

"Well who cares, I'll be there anyways, to help in case you need. That is my job after all." Shawn said as he got up and went to wait in the other room for us to leave. We were going to be car pooled by older members in the pack. Some of the basic guards my dad keeps around the house. Our pack was the largest in the area, mostly because we consisted of three packs in one. My dad being the King of all wolves, they all listened to his every word. They each had their own Alpha's but even they listened to my dad. There was one school in the area that most of the young wolves went but it was also a human school, so we had to be careful and not let them know about us. 

"Time to go!" Rose shouted from the front door. Time to go for my first day in school.
