Since the explosion on her way back from work, Mari became distant from her coworkers. She tried to keep up her cheerful demeanor, but some days, it just wasn't enough. She just felt empty.
It got to the point that even her family started to notice her attitude change. Mari had constant calls from her older sister telling her to get out of the apartment more. Each of these calls were responded with an eye roll from Mari and her hanging up the phone.
Slowly, after a while, her cheer returned, and she found herself quietly humming to herself as she walked. As she walked, the sky grew brighter. It was as if the sky brightened for her.
One day, she decided to walk past a fancy restaurant. As she walked, something inside caught her eye. The brunette turned her head to see a full blown fight breaking out. A person in a suit with wings was fighting guys over what seemed to be a briefcase. Mari put her hand in front of her face to block the sunlight to get a better view. All of a sudden, a ray of light bounced off of her hand and through the glass window. She didn't notice until slowly, the window began to break. Mari jumped back, and looked around to see if anyone saw what had just happened. Seeing nothing, she returned to her spot.
Inside, winged lady was trying to fight someone else. But this person was different from everyone else fighting. This person kept disappearing and reappearing. They could go through people like a ghost. Mari found herself captivated by every move the person made. Mari lifted her hand up, and once again, the light bounced off her hand. Angling her hand, the light moved up to the surrounding men's face. They fell back, and winged lady looked over at Mari.
Seizing the opportunity, the person grabbed the briefcase, and walked out of the restaurant. Their gaze met Mari's, and nodded before disappearing into the day. For some reason, even though no one else could, Mari could still see the person.
The door to the restaurant opened, and winged lady and another guy in a suit walked out. They stood in front of her. The guy in the suit opened his mask and sighed. "I have a few questions. Who are you and how did you do that?" The winged lady rolled her eyes. "Look, whoever you are, we need your help. That person took something that we need." Mari frowned and folded her arms. "I don't know, this seems sketchy." The man nodded. "Well, you can trust us. I fought with Captain America." Mari's eyes widened slightly. "You're Ant-Man?" He nodded.
Mari sighed. "Well, they went that way." She pointed in the direction that the person went. Winged lady placed her hands on her hips. "But how did you see that? They disappeared." Mari shrugged, and Ant-Man sighed. "Come with us." Mari hesitated, but she didn't really feel like going to work that day, so she agreed.
