I could distantly hear the voice of a news anchor in the background, "This Just In! Breaking News: A 22-year-old young woman, by the name of Suleqa Ahmed, has been missing from her home for nearly two weeks. The last time that authorities believe to have spotted her was on her way to a concert in Saint Arcton, Pennsylvania. Authorities believe that the young woman was originally from Solime, New Jersey, a small island of approximately 50 families. It is believed that the last individual, who was with the victim was her friend, Jenna Finland. The authorities are on the search for this individual. Our hopes and prayers are with Ms. Ahmed and her family."
I can't see anything. Something that is soft as cotton is covering my eyes shut. I feel as if a thousand needles been forced to pierce through the layers of my skin multiple times. My mouth has been forced shut with tape. As I think about how I can free myself from the awful predicament that I am in, I hear a couple of voices a few feet away from my head.
"Yes. Don't worry about it. She's been taken care of."
"Are you sure that you're doing the right thing? What if it doesn't succeed like last time?"
"Relax, it will. It has to. Our lifeline depends on it. She has more dirt on us than Jenna ever did. And besides, no one will ever know that we did it."
" Did you beat her unconscious?"
"Of course. The bitch couldn't even open her eyes when I put her in the bag."
"Good. Rick will give you the money after his men ensure that she's no longer a problem."
"I promise you that she's not a problem right now. She's nearly dead. Have you ever heard of the dead coming back alive? I don't think so."
"Actually--"
"Just pile on the dirt. If she hasn't died earlier, she will after five hours of being buried alive. The dirt will crush her lungs after she suffers from brain damage. She deserves it, doesn't she?"
"It's such a sad thing to know that a pretty face has died. Finland and now her, who else is next?"
"Not me, that's for sure."
"You're not pretty Dex. Did you do it to her? Did you complete the ritual?"
"Yes. "
"Naaya, soo kac (wake up)! Maxaa oo hurda (Why are you asleep)? Your best friend is on the news." My mother yelled at me to wake me up. What friend is she talking about? It's too early to be thinking about friends.
"Hooyo, I'll wake up in five minutes InshaAllah (God willing)," I moan into my pillow as I pull my blanket to my protect my face from the ultraviolet rays that can kill a vampire. "Please. Give me ten more minutes."
FIVE MINUTES LATER
My little brother jumped on top of me and yelled, "You idiot! You couldn't have listened to Hooyo and watched the news with us? What is wrong with you?"
Hearing the sadness and rage in his voice, I lift my pillow off of my face and ask him, "What happened?"
His eyebrows furrow as the waterline of his eyebrows fill up with tears, "J-Jenny is no longer with us."
I sit up in my bed as I begin to laugh in his face, "Are you high? Why would she be with us right now? She went on vacation two weeks ago. She's supposed to come back next we-"
"She's dead. She's been murdered by someone."
Suddenly, Abdullahi stops looking into my eyes and hunches his back. He focuses on straightening out his ruffled t-shirt when he says, "The police are saying that you did it."
After Abdullahi said this, my mother and my older sister rushed into my room with my older sister slapping me across the face, "Where were you last night, Suleqa? Hooyo said that you weren't here last. She told me that you came in after 2:30 A.M. Forensics believe that Jenna was murdered at 2:00 A.M. last night in the creek--the place that you and her used to always hang out."
I instruct myself to relax. Relax, Suleqa. Someone will find you soon. You won't die. You can't die, I comfort myself with these empty words.
Think happy thoughts. Think of your favorite song. Think of Rehab.
"I won't go, go, go." Were the last words I thought of before I felt something applying pressure to my chest.

Narrator's POVSomewhere far from where Suleqa was buried, a group of teens and young adults, wearing black masks covering their faces, gathered at the town center. The group had gathered around the large bon fire that they started, chanting words filled with hate and prejudice:
Spiteful bitches turn into terrorist who wreck schools. Crawl back to where you came from you n*****. You got what you deserved, so leave us alone whore.
