The strobe lights flooded the dark hall. Each new burst of light brought a new set of stars to KC's eyes. Finally she looked to the side. Avoiding the mesmerizing beat of the only light source, she leaned against the cold stone wall. Blinking to remove the seemingly permanent stars from view. KC leaned down to turn on the fog machine on. Watching the wight wave flood the floor, she hoped the smell of cotton candy would mask the thick smell of halloween makeup.
KC stared through the weaving strips of plastic, resisting the urge to scratch her nose. Working in a spook allie is fun, but not being able to itch your nose because you're covered in blood, is not so fun. Parting the sea of plastic, another strobe light reached out to blind her. It was hard to tell whether is was easier to see when the strobe was on or off.
With The blinding light on, more shapes can be seen. The hard part is know witch are real and which are just more stars, etched onto your eyes. With the light off, there was nothing but darkness, and faint shapes hiding in the fog; or was it the fog itself?
Each new burst of light blinded disoriented anyone who saw it, but as the lights flashed KC noticed something. Each time the lights were off, she swore she would see something in the corner. The second the lights popped back on, it was gone. Knowing it must have been an illusion she brushed it past. It was a spook alley; it was meant to get in your head and scare you. Maybe it could make a good ghost story.

"You saw what!" Jake's voice launched through the halls. Every student turned to look at him, one or two even peeked out of classrooms to see the source of the comothion. Waving a her hand. KC let them know that it was time to mind their own beeswax.
"I'm not quite sure," KC leaned in to add to the irry feel of her story. "But it can only be seen in the dark; when you can't see."
Letting a quiet cackle seep through her lips, KC raised her chin, then snapped back with a quick, "Bah!" hoping to make her freind jump. Instead he just sat there. His eyebrows were knitted together as he studied the floor.
"You said this was a true story?" Jake asked.
"It most definitely is." she said, drumming her fingers together, letting an evil grin creep onto her face. Again, she didn't get the wanted reaction. When she looked back towards him, it didn't look scared, or nervous, but worried. "It's ok, it was just the smoke playing with my imagination, that's all." She tried to calm him, but only seemed to make it worse.
Snaching her hand, Jake begain to pull her down the hall. Slipping off the chair she was in, KC pulled her hand back. "What the hay!" she snapped.
"We need to go. Now!" He looked down the hall, a face full of worry, and fear.
"I told you it was only the fog making shapes." She tried to convince him, but to no avail.
"That's what worries me!"
Jake continued to drag her by the hand. KC didn't rise much anymore, hoping that he would eventually get tired. Finally he stopped, and let her hand go. Looking up she saw the spook alie. It loomed over the inter stree, casting a spine tingling sensation through the neighborhood.
"Let's burn this place down," said Jake. "before they really wake up."
It was plain to see, he was mortified. This was more than just a story to him, and it scared KC. Jake was someone who functioned on logic, and possessed no fear. He would jump when you told him a scary story, but that was for your amusement, he never got scared. Never. What would be so bad about shapes in the fog, that would make him scared enough to burn down a building.
KC watched in horror as he reached a shaky hand into his pocket and pulled out a small box of matches.
