My Son

The first time you wriggled inside me, my son,
I felt motherhood spring within.
The first time I heard your cry, my son,
I felt the music of your heart against mine.
The first time I brushed my lips
Against your cherry coloured cheeks, my son,
I felt I was in a shower of thousand rose petals.
The first time I held you in my arms, my son,
I saw divine innocence looking back at me.
The first time you sucked the nector from me, my son,
I felt the milk of motherhood flowing through my veins.
The first time you smiled back at me, my son,
I saw a whole world of joyous life ahead of me.
My heart swells with love, my son,
When I see you asleep beside me.
