he cold side swimming pool was warmer today.
It was a very strange occurrence considering it was devoid of sunlight and had no heating elements to it, including the fact no body heat would be transferred into the water as nobody ever swam in there. From what Jett had been told, it was just professional swimmers, divers, people who did this for a living and not just because they were and obese six-year-old with an overeating disorder.
It wasn't like his mum had even fed him bad food. It was just the usual, baby mama's apple and banana pouches with the special occasion pouch which provided a beautiful taste of broccoli and mushroom for breakfast, lunch, and tea as a baby, the food he ate now tasted the exact same just with a few added peas. But for some reason, he was fat, and the doctors had put him on a ridiculous diet plan at the humble age of six. His mum still thought they were lying to her.
"Come on pumpkin, we need to get dry, so we can go and meet uncle Steve," she commanded across the pool. Jett was out before her even though he was at the other end of the pool. Skylar, who always swam with him, wasn't far behind Jett. They'd been friends since birth and had gone to the same primary school as well as the same rhythm time ages ago. They both got out of the pool laughing, Skylar running off into the changing rooms as Jett and his mum followed shortly behind. He hated going into the girls changing room. Partly because it was awkward and partly because he didn't really know where to look. His mum always covered him with a towel, but it never really seemed good enough for the rest of them.
"Come on Jett!" yelled Sky from the other side of the room, drawing more attention.
"I'm coming okay I'm coming!"
Jett went to put on his pants, being extra careful to not make it seem obvious but of course, he knew it was and his mum suddenly dropped the towel for no apparent reason. She turned swiftly round when she did it but obviously hadn't done it consciously. Now his entire naked body was exposed to the whole changing room.
"Jett's got a willy, Jett's got a willy!" came the same antagonizing voice from the other side of the room as a couple of the older women smiled almost with sympathy but then with a tinge of amusement.
"Skylar don't do that in the changing room," said Sarah, Sky's mother.
"Sorry," came a grumbly voice. Jett managed to speedily put on his bottom half as well as his stripy top and packed away his towel. His mum took his bag, swung it around her shoulder and took his hand.
"Come on then, let's go." They made their way out of the changing room with Jett chasing after Skylar as revenge for this public humiliation, to which Skylar decided to trip him over and send him flying across the floor, ending with tears from both sides of the fray.
"Skylar! Say sorry now!"
"Sorry Jetty, I didn't mean to."
"Its okay I'm okay now," he said, getting up and dusting off his grazed knees. His mum pulled him towards their car after goodbyes were said and Jett hopped in the backseat, clipping in the seatbelt over his swollen belly.
"Now who wants a Mcdonalds!"
"Me!"
Talk about an eating problem.
