Living With The Daniels

CHAPTER TWO

   I woke up with my head on Lucas' lap. He was awake and looking out the window, with his hand on top of my head, stroking my hair. Talk about awkward. He looked down at me, "Good evening sunshine" he said with a smile. A smile too appeared on my lips, "Good evening to you too" I said to him.

      "Attention passengers we while be landing shortly so please turn off all devices. Thank you" the captain announced.  What? We can't be landing already, we haven't been on the plane long enough. "What are we doing?" I  asked Lucas. He looked just as confused as I felt. "I don't...know" he said with a pause.

    After mine and Lucas' chat a flight attendant walked down the aisle, "Um...excuse ma'am but where exactly are we?" I asked her. She let out a small flirtious  giggle. I turned around and seen Lucas wink at her, "Listen Barbie quit flirting with a teenager when you're obviously 30 and answer the question" I said to her making sure she could hear the annoyance in my voice. She looked at me and rolled her eyes. "Ugh listen here brat if you must know we are in Los Vegas, Nevada" she said to me crossing her arms. Oh that Barbie did not just call me me a 'brat'. "Listen here you..." I started to say until Lucas cut me off "Why are we exactly in Nevada?" he asked the rudely and annoying flight attendant. Her annoyed expression changed into a white smile, "We need to refuel so you guys will be getting on a different plane" and with that she left.

     "What the heck was that?" Lucas asked me. I looked and him confused but he just gave me a look that said 'don't play dumb'. Oh he must be talking about Barbie, even if he is why is he sticking up for her? "Oh you mean Barbie? Well she was eye raping you, obviously. She was a total jerk and wouldn't answer my question so yea" I said standing up and grabbing my things and walking to the exit.

     Shortly after I was off the plane and in the lobby of the airport. There was a lady behind a desk that worked here, "Hi. When will the next flight be off?" I asked her. She flashed a smile, "Hello, in about thirty minutes or so" she replied. I sent her a pathetic smile and I walked to a chair and sat and waited.

    A few minutes after I sat down Lucas came over and took the seat next to me. Not wanting to hear his crap, I plugged in my beats.

   "When the daylight comes" My phone started to ring. I answered it without looking at the caller ID, "Hello?" I asked confused. "Hi, is this Carter?" the person on the other line asked. It sounded like a man. "Y-yes, and who may this be?" I asked even more confused, "This is Rob Daniels, your father's best friend" the man said. Oh. He must be the one I'll be living with. "Oh, hi" I replied, not so confused. "Hi. I was just calling to see if you landed yet?" He replied. If I did land I wouldn't be stuck with Lucas but nooo the plane just had to refuel. "Actually I won't be landing til another hour or so" I said awkwardly because I could feel Lucas just staring at me. Talk about creepy. I heard Mr. Daniels sigh on the other line. "Well...Okay. I'll see you when you land" He said. "Alrighty. Bye" I say and he hangs up.

    Well he seemed nice. "Who was that?" Lucas asked. I look at him for a bit and grinned "Wouldn't you like to know" I say and get up to get something to eat.

   I find a Subway and decided on that. I walked in and noticed something, there was one worker and about fifteen people, what kind of manger does that?! Okay, well looks like Starbucks it is.

   On my way to Starbucks Lucas caught up to me, "You never did tell me who you were on the phone with earlier" He told me, gosh he's so nosey. I looked at him and rolled my eyes, "If you must know I was talking to Rob Daniels. You probably don't know who that is" I said to him while walking into Starbucks. Lucas just stood there, "Oh this is gonna be great" I heard him say. "Huh?" I said turning towards him. He just looked at me, "Nope don't know him at all" He said walking in front of me into Starbucks. Well that was weird.

   I walk in a few minutes after and see Lucas with a drink and two muffins in his hands, "I didn't know what you wanted to drink so I just got you a muffin" he said handing me my muffin with a grin on his lips, his beautiful beautiful lips.

    "Oh thanks. I'll order my own drink" I tell him with a smile playing on to my lips.

   "What is wrong with me?!" I ask myself as make my way to the counter. "I so can not like Lucas, I met him today for Pete's sake!" I muttered to myself.

   I walk up to the counter where a boy, about my age maybe a few years older, was working. "Hi and how may I help you today?" He asked, flashing me a breath taking a smile.

   Man, oh man was he gorgeous. That probably sounds weird to say about a boy but boy he was.

"Um...yea. I'll take a Raspberry Iced Tea" I reply. He nods and gets my tea.

  While I wait I get a text from my best friend in Florida, Emma.

Ems: Hey babe, I just wanted you to text me when you get settled in and give me all the detts, xxxx Ems

Carter: Of course hun, xxxx Carter

I slipped my phone back into my back pocket and looked back at the boy who handed me my tea. I looked at the cup and noticed a phone number on it, I looked back at him just in time to see him wink. I rolled my eyes, Boys.

  Right when I was about to sit down next to Lucas someone come over the speaker, "Flight 442 is now boarding".

  I groaned but stood back up and grabbed my things and started walking to the boarding dock. Lucas caught up to me and asked "So where do we stand?"

  Where do we stand? What kind of question was that? To be honest I have no idea how to answer that.

   "What do you mean?" I asked, acting confused. I was truly wondering what he wanted to know. "Well...What are we? Are we friends or what?" he asked once again.

    I guess I would consider us friends. So that's what we are gonna go with. Friends. Just friends.

   "Friends sounds great to me" I said as we took off from the airport. He just nodded his head and sat down. How we manage to keep getting put right by each other on the plane is what I'd like to know.

  I plug in my beats and lay my head on Lucas' shoulder. I start drifting off to sleep and the last thing I hear is Lucas say "I love you Carter" and than I drift off into a peaceful sleep.
