So ... I'm currently watching "Harry Styles, Behind the Album." I know what you are thinking: "Harry Styles, as in the guy from One Direction? What the hell happened to you?" Well, he got really good, and his music inspired me. Plus, my mind was blown the first time I heard Sign of the Time. Loved Kiwi, even though it was a bit different. Then I spent some time brooding (like Lucas Scott in OTH) because there was no more music for me to listen. And then, I found out he had a whole ALBUM out!
BEST. NEWS. EVER.
I downloaded the rest of the album but didn't listen to them right away. Why? because I make no sense whatsoever. And then, today, I watched something about Harry Styles (I can't even recall what that was), I found myself documenting and listening Harry Styles related stuff all day long. He is a truly fascinating person. Ever since a few nights ago, I have been intrigued by live performances. I think it is the only moment of truth that you'll ever see of them, because in that moment, their soul is out and they can't hide anything from us. We can finally connect. Music is special, and every artist has their own voice, but for the time being, my mindset is intrigued by Harry Styles'. He is amazing at performing. I personally enjoy that part the most when it comes to him. His character changes, transforms, awakes. Like a legendary animal whom everybody fears but secretly wishes to see what is the thing everybody is gushing about.
Ok. Enough about him. I should probably finish packing.
The woman closed her journal. Put down her pen.
"Tess? You ready?"
"One more minute!"
Tessa was still thinking about what she wrote in her diary. She always had so much to say. Her thoughts entangled themselves, she always hated how the whole thing seemed messy. But, in any case, it was simply a journal, it wasn't as though anybody but herself was going to be reading it.
She quickly grabbed her purse, put her phone into it and went down the stairs.
"I am here. Let's go." she said, smiling, to her friend Clarisse.
Clarisse responded with a wavering smile, sign that she already wanted to cry but was holding back. She hated crying in front of other people, even her best friend.
Tessa sighed: she was going to miss this city.
After a quick drive, the two adults arrived to the restaurant where they were supposed to meet all of their friends.
The whole group was looking grim, as tough they were all thinking about her soon departure. However, all their sad faces lit up as soon as they saw the birthday girl.
"Happy Birthday Tessie! "yelled Alicia, smirking in a way only she could. She kissed her friend's cheek as a greeting. "Now let's eat and get drunk!"
The whole table cheered. Tessa slowly shook her head, accustomed to her friend's behaviour.
"Thank you, guys. I love you so much" replied the newly twenty-one-year-old girl with sudden tears forming in her eyes and a trembling voice "I am so lucky to have met all of you."
"Awwwww don't be sad little Tessie", said her friend Tony, already slightly tipsy, as he went to hug her, but tripped and fell on the floor.
Everyone, including Tony, had a good laugh.
They went on to eat several dishes in this small restaurant where they all had came together and become friends. They were all feeling nostalgic but definitely happy and grateful to be able to spend one last evening together.
The dinner went by quickly and it was soon time to leave, as Tessa was driving to the airport, in order to go back to Chatswin, early in the morning.
When the evening came to an end, Tessa embraced all of her friends in her arms, murmuring in their ears how much they meant to her and how much they had helped her for the past year. They all teared up. She had never seen Mitch, cry.
Clarisse drove her back to her flat. The two friends weren't ready to say goodbye. Understandable.
They sat in silence on her bed, looking in different directions, and wondering about their future. How they would manage to stay in each other's lives, despite the distance and the train wreck that is life.
"I can't believe you're leaving," said Clarisse in a calm but sorrow-filled voice. "I don't accept it. Why can't you stay? It is so unfair. I have finally found a sister and she has to go live on another continent. Why does this keep happening to me?"
Clarisse was a very shy and reserved person. She mostly kept things to herself. But having Tessa by her side, she had learned to trust other people, and to confide herself in her best friend. It took her a bit of time to start pouring out her heart to Tessa, but when she did, she knew that person was going to stay in her life.
Tessa has told Clarisse about where she was from, Chatswin, her family, which pretty much consisted of George and herself, and what she was running away from, the enigmatic Ryan Shaw. But something was pushing her to go back to her roots, and after a few years away, Tessa knew going back was the right call. She was terrified of course. She had left the small town so quickly after graduating. She had been excited at the prospect of discovering the world and learning from it. She wondered what the people of Chatswin thought of her. Knowing them, they were either gossiping about her return because George slipped up and told someone, or preparing her a banquet. She hoped neither. After a year and a half, Tessa had truly missed her dad and wanted to spend some alone time with him. plus, she really wasn't ready to see ... No. She shouldn't be thinking about him. Or his big, beautiful, piercing green eyes and the way they used to look at her.
Ryan.
She had missed him so much during her travels. Sure, she had been surrounding by friends, but she had needed the presence of the person who knew her best. Because of the young man, she was sometimes so out of it and Clarisse had soon picked up on it. Her best friend would smile at her knowingly and look the other way. She knew that Tessa felt very vulnerable when it came to this boy.
Clarisse, she thought, turning her head towards the end of the bed. The other girl had fallen asleep.
Tessa smiled.
She had met plenty of wonderful people in a place where she hadn't originally even considered staying. How lucky was she.
And with that, she slowly fell asleep. Tomorrow was going to be an emotionally-charged day.

well, that's it. I kept listening to Harry Styles album while writing it, it was so fun and, at the same time, inspiring.
I hope you enjoyed it. I truly.
I have no idea when the next update will be, but I have already started writing and planning the next chapters. I don't want to be the author that starts stories but never finshes them. I have to work on that.
love you guys.
kate may.
