"Zola!" Her mother, Elena, called out from the kitchen. "Do you have everything you need for school next week? Your schedule, notebooks, pens, pencils?!"
"Yes, mamá!" Zola flinched, feeling her head as she touched the side of it, walking out of her room and towards her mother.
"Okay." She looked up, and saw her daughter in pain, she quickly went to her side, stroking Zola's long dark hair back. "Baby, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. I'll just go get some air..I just have this headache, it came out of nowhere..." She groaned.
Her mother nodded. "Alright, well when James comes back into the house I'll tell him to take you to the pharmacy for some pills." She observes her environment again, asking Zola. "Where's Ruth?"
"Sleeping." Zola slipped on her boots, tying them up near the door.
"I should have known." Her mother laughed. "She's always sleeping. Huevona that one."
Zola smiled lightly, only for an instant. "You'd have a heart-attack going into her room then. She hasn't cleaned it in weeks."
"I don't doubt it, but you should tell her hija." She commenced to scan the bills. "You're her sister, she looks up to you."
".....Okay." Zola stood up, finally going outside. The first thing she been greeted to was the chilling, but pine fresh air. Zola zipped up her warm leather jacket, walking a little closer into the woods near their house. She enjoyed going here, in fact she had enjoyed their entire property. Zola glanced back at the cute brick home, she loved it all: the house; the large sunflower field; the garden filled with succulents, vegetables, and fruits; not to mention the dog they had. That shepherd was sleeping around in the dirt near the house being just as lazy as Ruth today.
Zola laughed and continued her walk, but her headache didn't get any better, in fact as she went further in the dense woods, it got worse. She felt that her head would split in two, distracted as she was, Zola tripped on a part of a fallen tree and fell on the moist earth beneath her. She groaned, touching her head again, thankful her body didn't fall on anything itself so she didn't have an injury. She was, however, dirty now to her distaste. Zola's headache continued, she wanted to cry, cry so much with all the pain she had felt, she tried to get up but failed over and over again. Eventually, she caved in, turning her body over as she lays her back down against the dirt.
Just as she did, she narrowed her eyes catching sight of a distant white and gold glow in the sky. A star? No..It was coming towards the woods, and heading her way! Zola panicked, looking around for a safe to take cover. She tried but couldn't get up, as her head throbbed and hammered with pain. Zola was reduced to stay put, stay and possibly await for a fatal attack. Yet..nothing had happened, Zola could only hear the branches and leaves sway as she covered her face.
Zola hesitantly looked up and saw hundreds of small gold and white twinkling lights showering over her and her surroundings. Her headache was gone. She stood up, eyes widened, she couldn't believe the beautiful sight. Zola lifted both her hands up, connecting her palms together as she captured these starry lights. They landed on her rosy palms and her entire body, she felt them, warm and soft before they had disappeared. Soon, the shinning rain had grown smaller and smaller. Zola followed it along too amazed, happy and distracted to realize that it eventually led to the center of the place. Zola saw it reduced to a streak, it lead down to a certain area before fading away to the location of the heart of the body that had been surrounded in this shinning silver—chrome.
Zola crouched down, surprised as she still kept her distance. She panted, observing the body; it was shaped as a man, outlining his body only as it lay still, undisturbed and asleep. Quickly, greenery sprouted out of the ground and started taking its hold on it. The vines and grass grew larger, covering the chrome figure, as if making it apart of the woods until it was unnoticed by any man or living thing. Zola couldn't believe it, but something drove her, made her act on her instinct, because once she touched the outer worldly body it was all over. The greenery retracted and was pulled back into the earth, the chrome coating slowly left the body, little by little revealing parts of the person inside it; from its legs, up its thigh, stomach, arms, and finally face. Eventually, the chrome was completely gone, converting into a silver band for a ring that carried a beautiful gem.
She takes in everything about this creature, for starters his glowing white hair and pale skin, he looked like freshly fallen snow to Zola. Another intriguing feature about him was these strange silver markings that covered his body, they waved and extended as if the were branches, but soon they retreated to his back; leaving his body bare and without markings. Zola's eyes started to wonder, only getting a glimpse of his..thing for a slight second. She blushes darkly, instantly looking back up at his face. He parted his scarlet lips, breathing softly, as if sleeping, slightly long hair and bangs framing his face. Zola gets a twig, poking him, he furrowed his dark brows turning his face over and revealing his pointed ears to her.
Zola's eyes widened. "Interesting..."
The young man slowly awoke from his slumber, hearing the sound of Zola's whispered voice he looked up. Her brown eyes had met with his own.
