The sun,
I fear,
will never rise again.
Of course, it will come over the world and shine
but never will it rise like it did for you and I.
When we would sit
side by side
in the back of your brothers truck
that you let me drive
the world felt infinite.
The ground felt like what life should be like,
soft, and newly blooming,
and the sun,
not yet up,
slowly rose to see us,
as if to say "good morning"
and would bask us in its light
while telling us life should always feel this way.
Infinite.
But infinity doesn't last forever
and darkness takes over the light.
happiness is attacked by shadows,
and the world can only rot.
I professed my love,
and so did you,
but in the end, it was her that has you.
Her,
the one who gets you in trouble with the cops
and cocaine.
Her,
someone I didn't know you could ever love
she makes me wonder
if it was ever me.
