It's the holidays and you've decided to spend your free days at your grandparents' house in the rural area. You were supposed to fetch water from the river nearby but the journey back to the village is a two-hours walk and the afternoon sun is unbearable. You decide to take a nap under the shade of a baobab tree to replenish your strength. When you wake up, the sun has just set. You remember your grandmother's voice echoing a warning.
"The night is a feast for the wild animals," she had said.
Anxious to get home, you rush through the darkening forest, the bucket of water clutched in your hand. As you sidestep a thorny thicket, something flashes through the trees. You squint your eyes to get a better look and gasp. It's a hyena and it turns its head in your direction, its glowing eyes locked on you.
