the next day michael went to school with a small hint of happiness in his step. it was because of her. he knew it. he had had his first encounter with the light of his life.

he sat through the day without letting the people that considered themselves superior to him bother him with the dumb insults that mostly didn't make sense, and were used constantly to be hurled at him, so were far from original.

he had finally got to his favourite part of the day, art. he awkwardly made his way into two seated desk up the back of the classroom. it had the bright white light of the dull cloudy day shining in onto him and he was able to watch the drips of rain fall down onto the window pane, which was, he noticed, covered in people's fingerprints. he was thinking about all the germs that people could probably get from touching that window when he felt a weight sit itself down onto the seat beside him. he turned, sighing, expecting it to be one of the schools so called "bad boys" that prided themselves on their muscle and how tough they looked and were also the main cause of the insults that michael got every day. it wasn't. he turned to be once again face to face with her, lia.

" hi," she barely whispered.

"hello," michael said with a small smile. he just looked at her for a while while she cocked her head to the side like a small lost puppy, michael liked to compare her to a puppy he found it a good analogy for her.

"oh, im lia by the way," she said holding her hand out to shake michaels. he grasped it and shook, liking the way once again her hand fit in his. "it's michael right?"

"yeah, it is, im surprised you remembered," he looked at her with wide eyes.

"of course i did, how could i not remember my heroic saviour?" she said with a soft smile.

"well, technically i didn't save you i just helped you up, i really didn't do anything to avoid the situation and now looking back at it i probably should have and i'm sorry for that." he rambled on his voice trailing off at the end when he realised that he was rambling on.

she laughed her musical laugh, the laugh which michael had only heard from afar.

class begun but michael was distracted, he wasn't able to focus on the technique being taught and he kept drawing her eyes over and over in his sketchbook. when it came time to draw he watched her, he watched the way her hair fell across her face and how she would tuck it neatly behind her ear, he watched the way her eyebrows furrowed in the middle and crinkles appeared, he also watched how she would bite her lip while concentrating.

"were you staring at me?"

michael drew out of his daze and shook his head vigorously, she just laughed and went back to her drawing.

his cheeks blushed furiously and he looked down at his blank paper. bringing up his pencil he began to sketch out his drawing.

at the end of class michael barely heard the bell ring until lia tapped him on the shoulder. he turned to look at her and snapped his book shut.

"class just ended," she said keeping her hand on his shoulder, michael stared at it in shock, which she quickly realised and dropped it immediately. he didn't see her face as she dropped it to the floor and started walking out of class.

he stood up and started to jog after her, " wait, lia!" he called.

she looked up from the ground and stared at him expectantly.

" would i maybe, would you, uh , do you maybe want to catch up after class sometime this week?" he managed to choke out

a huge smile lit her face up, " i would love to! i mean yeah, that sounds cool, "

he laughed inside at her cuteness but thought better than to show it, lia grabbed her sketchbook and tore out a page. she scribbled something with her big loopy writing and handed it to him before walking out of class.

this, he thought to himself is the start of something.

yay! a new chapter finally
