Jennifer's POV
As you can tell from my name, I'm a foreigner. I moved to Japan yesterday from England with my Japanese mother and English father. Another guess you could make is that I'm not very good at Japanese, well, that is correct. I've been raised in England since I was two and my mother thought it wouldn't be necessary to learn Japanese, since she wanted to stay in England and all. Due to this, I only know a bit of Japanese. That's why, when my mother told me we were going to be moving to Japan, I started panicking. Their culture is very different from over here, I was worried I wouldn't be able to even make friends because of the language barrier. But everything changed, when I met her.
Normal POV
"Okay class, we have a new student joining us today. You can enter!" The teacher smiled as she turned towards the door.

"Er, hello? Jennifer?" The teacher stared at the door which was making no movement.
The class was silent, as if you could hear a pin drop. The teacher awkwardly laughed and walked to the door, opening it to find Jennifer staring at a notebook. The sudden movement of the door made Jennifer jump out of her skin. Then the class started whispering to each other, some giggling and others confused. The teacher then remembered Jennifer's lack of Japanese skills that the headmaster warned her about. She sighed and stood out of the way, motioning Jennifer to enter. Jennifer swallowed and shakily shuffled in. The class gasped and broke into chatter.
"She has blonde hair! A foreigner?" One girl gasped excitedly.
"Look at those blue eyes! They're the colour of the sky!" Another stared in awe.
Jennifer felt her head spinning, she had no clue what any of them were saying. Then the teacher smiled.
"Intro-duce." She slowly said the word, her Japanese accent thick but still clear enough for Jennifer to easily understand.
Then Jennifer looked at her notes.
"Hello, my name is Jennifer..." That was all Jennifer could remember from her very few Japanese lessons with her mother on the plane.
'Maybe they'll understand just a bit of English.' Jennifer thought.
"Ata my desk-u? I hopu many of you willu visitu me. Kyonyu kamu?" Jennifer smiled.
(At my desk I hope many of you will visit me. Can you come?)
The class broke out into laughter and the teacher's mouth dropped open.
('Can you come' sounds like 'kyonyu kamu' which means 'want to bite some huge breasts.')
Jennifer didn't know this, and smiled innocently, thinking the class was just laughing at how cute her English was. The teacher groaned and pointed to an empty desk in the back row. Jennifer nodded and sat down, placing her bag on the hooks and setting out her equipment.

Lunch

No one went to visit Jennifer and even though it was heartbreaking, it was understandable. They knew that they couldn't communicate with her so why bother. Jennifer frowned, she felt so lonely. Then all of a sudden a bento box was placed onto her table. She looked up to see a girl with gorgeous, silky black hair which fell elegantly to her waist and brown/reddish coloured eyes which sparkled in the sun. Jennifer stared at the girl who was now happily eating her lunch on Jennifer's desk.
"Er, すみません (sumimasen), are you on the wrong desk?" Jennifer blinked, puzzled as to why she was here.
The girl shook her head and beamed. Then she stared into Jennifer's eyes.
"友達 (tomodachi)." She grinned.
"友達...?" Jennifer tilted her head to the side, not knowing the meaning of the word.
The girl swallowed the food in her mouth and giggled. She then pointed towards her, "Himeno," then pointed towards Jennifer. "Friend."
Jennifer felt her heart skip a beat and nodded. "Friends!"

A month later

Jennifer was a bit better than before at Japanese, she could finally have a very basic conversation with Himeno. They were walking through Yoyogi park, taking pictures. Himeno loved photography, it was her passion. She was working hard at studying so she could get into Touou Academy, it had a very advanced photography area. Jennifer didn't really have a hobby like Himeno's, the only thing she liked doing was helping others. Then again, maybe that counters. Jennifer did a lot of charity work and Himeno would always be there to support her. Due to that, Jennifer would occasionally go with Himeno to different places so Himeno could take pictures. Many would find this boring, but Jennifer adored being with Himeno. She was easy to talk to, they laughed sometimes at the language barrier. Although most found the barrier a bit annoying and frustrating, Himeno didn't. She instead tried to cheer Jennifer up about it by taking a few English lessons herself.
Everything was perfect, and eventually they made it to graduation. That's where you'd expect them to split up, right? Well, their desire to keep their friendship alive was stronger than a lot of other friendships. And that's how they joined the group Fresh Sensation, so they could stay together a bit longer.
