The Forgotten Phoenix

Chapter 4: Paint Hell Red Pt. 1

A light spear flies across a dark room, followed by a sword trailing fire. The wielder of the blade jumps back as a bright flash goes off and a gunshot rings out followed shortly after by an explosion that is absorbed into a sword. The attack is followed by two blades cutting in an X-shape, blood spraying around, and a fire being lit lighting up the room. Aiden squats in front of a stray devil's burning corpse. Enya stands next him blood dripping off her sword, Raynere on the left of Aiden crossing her arms. with Damiean holds his sniper up and reloads.

"Mission complete. Crystal, set up the appointment for payment have it set for tomorrow." He speaks to Crystal who responds over the radio on his waist.

"Had it set up an hour ago."

"We're headed home for now, can you make quick check on supplies and groceries we need?" Damiean asks as he sends away his gun and starts walking towards the main doors of the warehouse.

"On it, also Aiden be sure to make coffee when you get home. We both know how Enya gets when she stays up for more than a couple of days without coffee."

Everyone but Enya shudders at the thought, she rolls her eyes and makes a portal home. She and Raynere walk through leaving the boys to go shopping. A few hours laters the boys of the Phoenix team arrive home late at night. Aiden covered in blood and ashes and Damiean is covered in ashes as well.

"What the hell happened?" Enya asks the boys who shake ashes off of themselves on the patio which is also covered in ashes.

"Uh... well..."

Earlier in the day Aiden and Damiean walked to the grocery store but as they arrived at the store the ground started rumbling the duo looked towards the top of nearby building to see a stray devil rushing in their direction. Aiden nods his head towards his Bishop piece (Damiean), he pulls out his Sniper and loads enough magical energy to make an explosion the size of twenty pounds of TNT. The explosion covers the duo in soot as Aiden summons CrossFire absorbing the flames before he rushes in cutting the stray into pieces and being covered the blood of the stray. He then lands next to Damiean who is covered in the ashes falling from the sky. The duo walk in the store and act like there's nothing wrong.

Raynare looks to the pair exasperated at their story, Enya has a questioning look, and Crystal doesn't even look at the pair tossing clothes and towels at the duo.

"Shower, then coffee."

"Right." Aiden deadpans grabbing a second towel and entering.

Once the boys come back they start making some coffee for the ladies.

"Achoo!"

"Damn it, you fried chicken! You ruined the coffee!"

"Aiden! That better not have been my coffee!"

"Ahh shit."

After the boys fix the coffee, again, they give it to the girls. Aiden sighs happily, and they spend the next few days doing nothing of note after but it doesn't last long, as very soon after they get a call. When Aiden receives the call he notices that it's Azazel. He sighs while answering, the call interrupting his conversation between him and Raynere about the duality of humanity.

'One second Ray.'

In Call A= Aiden Az=Azazel

A: Yo. What up?
Az: I just got a call from Star and he wanted to let you know that your big brother will be showing up in Kuoh soon and wanted to know if you want to say hi to your big brother and his fiancé.
A: Wait, Riser's engaged?
Az: Apparently. So are you headed to Kuoh or not?
Aiden: Definitely. I can't wait to see that bastard.
