The next day I walked into the school, and almost as soon as I stepped through the doors, Luna came running up to me.
"Hey, Y/N!" She greeted me happily, smiling just like she was yesterday.
"Hey, Lu. How's it going?"
"Great, actually! I found out we have first period together!" She replied jubilantly.
"Really? I didn't even notice you yesterday." I said, laughing awkwardly.
"I didn't notice you either, but now we have more time to hang out!" She said, and just as she finished her sentence, the bell rang, signaling for everyone to go to their classes. Luna smiled and grabbed my hand, leading me off to the chemistry lab.
Which, might I add, is where I nearly had a full blown heart attack on the spot.
As we walked in the door, I saw a familiar face setting at a desk near the window. It was the guy from the parking lot group, and he was staring directly at me. He looked, once again, like he was terrified at my very presence. And that's when I realized, his was the only desk left with an empty seat. My heart froze mid beat, and I would've stopped in my tracks, had Luna not been there tugging me on into the room. We parted ways, and she went to her desk which she shared with another girl. I took a deep breath, and approached the desk. I timidly sat down, trying to keep my thumping heart from bursting out of my chest. All of a sudden, I heard an unfamiliar voice.
"You're the new girl."
I really froze this time.
"Uh, yeah." I replied, slowly turning to face the boy beside me. His entire body was tense, and his eyes were the size of nickels. The very eyes that bore holes into mine, and made my blood freeze over, like a lake slowly turning to ice in the colder months of winter.
He pried his eyes from mine long enough to glance out the window, as if he was about to make a break for it. But he didn't. Instead, he spoke again.
"Welcome to Forks."
He was dead silent for the rest of the class.
About two hours later, Luna and I were in the lunch room, talking amongst ourselves. She had introduced me to a few of her friends, none of whom I could remember the names of. I kept stealing glances at the table in the corner of the room, just beside the largest window. That was where they sat both yesterday and today. Multiple times I looked back and made immediate eye contact with Mr. Attractive, and as soon as he would catch me looking, he would divert his gaze to anywhere but mine.
"Y/N. Y/N!" Luna snapped me out of my thoughts, I jerked around to meet her ever present smile. Well, this time, it was more of a smirk.
"Oh, don't tell me..." She said, looking at me quizzically.
"What? I was just looking." I said defensively.
"Well, don't even think about it." She said, taking a drink of her water.
"Why? He your man or something?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
She nearly choked on her water.
"God, no. There have been multiple girls trying to get with him since him and his family moved here a year ago. But apparently, he thinks he's too good for anyone around here." She explained, rolling her eyes at the end of her sentence.
"What's his name?"
"Oh God, I knew it. You have a crush on him, don't you?" She said dreadfully.
"What? No! I just want to know who those people are. I've only been here for two days, I have no idea who the majority of the students here are." I defended.
She gave me a look, but spoke anyway.
"We just call them the Boo family, since no one is actually on a first name basis with any of them. Although, none of them have the same last name. The girl is Emery L'Arche. From what I can gather she's like, the only American in the whole bunch. Her last name might as well be Yoon, because that's Jeonghan's last name and those two are practically married, even though they're literally adopted siblings. Then there's Kwon Soonyoung, who is probably the most outgoing of the bunch, although like them, he rarely ever speaks." She said, gesturing to the first girl and boy, then to one of the black haired ones.
"The younger one setting by Jeonghan is Lee Chan, he basically took up with Emery and Jeonghan, so I guess you could say they're like his parents now, I don't know, it's weird." She explained, waving her hand and gesturing to the other black haired boy.
"The little short one is Lee Jihoon, and you literally never hear him say a word. He's as quiet as a mouse, but honestly, he's pretty cute." She said with a shrug and I stifled a laugh.
"Then lastly, is Boo Seungkwan."
So that's his name.
"He's pretty reserved too, and he mostly just sticks with Emery, since she's like the leader of their group. I guess they're like, the closest."
"Does he have a girlfriend?" I asked before I even knew what I was saying. She sighed dramatically.
"No, he hasn't had a girlfriend the entire time he's been here. Like I said, I guess he thinks he's too good for everyone."
I can see why he might think that, honestly. The more I looked at him, I couldn't find a single flaw about him. His skin was perfect, so was his hair. That seemed to be the case with all of them, really.
All of a sudden my thoughts were interrupted by the scooting of chairs. It was the Boo family, and they were heading out of the cafeteria. It wasn't until later that night when I got home that I realised they had dumped their trays in the trash without so much as looking at their food at all.
