Dark's silvery eyes are wide, as they're stuck staring at you, in what you can only describe as disbelief. What's odd is, once he seems to snap out of it, you had fully expected him to laugh, or maybe even get creeped out. Instead, he frowns.

"Um... when's your shift over?"

You want to know what he has to say so badly, "Now, if I want. I'm sure Beth will understand,"

"Are you sure? I don't want to stop you from doing the stuff you love-"

"No don't worry about it, its no problem at all. Please wait here," you interrupt him, before dashing into the cafe.

Beth, of course, agrees to let you leave early. She was quite obviously a little jealous, but you explained that he was just telling you something important.

When you met back up with Dark outside, offering an uncertain smile which he returned, he gestured towards the park and suggested, "How about we walk and talk?"

You nod in agreement, and the two of you stroll down the path in silence.

The park is gorgeous at this time in the evening. The baby blue sky is adopting those impossible shades of rose and lilac. There are no clouds, but a sprinkle of stars that are only just becoming visible. The sun is setting behind a building in the far distance, illuminating the grass with its amber light. A few people are still out taking walks, and in the distance, you can hear the fountain.

You dare to peer in your peripheral, to see that Dark is just as invested in the scenery as you were a second ago. His expression is troubled, and solemn. Everything seems to be suggesting against repeating your previous question, but the curiosity is eating you alive.

"So..." you begin, regretting it now that you aren't sure what to say. Perhaps it's best for some small talk before you ask the question again, it's only polite, "How was school today?"

Dark belts out one large laugh but then hastily shuts his mouth.

"That bad, huh?" You smile in amusement,

"I guess you could say that," he replies with a tone clearly suppressing a few more laughs, "But nothing to write home about,"

He studies neurobiology, so he's probably planning on becoming a therapist or something. It's strange, to say the least, while looking at this ebony haired, strong jawed and grey eyed man, it's hard to imagine him doing that. Scratch that, it's downright hilarious to imagine him doing that. He's just too... suave, like he's made for royalty or something.

"How about you? How was your day?"

You stare into his genuinely curious eyes for a moment, feeling your heart hammer in your chest, "I... er..." you focus on the road again, to get a grip on your thoughts, "I stayed home. After what happened last night at the party... well, it had me feeling out of sorts,"

Dark frowns, inching closer to you, "Are you afraid it will happen again?"

"Yes, of course. But I think the idea of what could have happened was making me more afraid than anything else," you confess, only realising you just spilled your heart out to this guy you hardly know. Perhaps it's the way he seems so sympathetic and honestly concerned.

"If you could forget that traumatic experience ever happened, would you?"

"No, I think it serves as a very valuable lesson to me. And if the man comes back, I'd like to remember to stay away from him,"

"But imagine I didn't come in last night and that terrible thing happened. Then, once it's done, the man gets arrested for life. Would you want to forget the event never happened?"

"I suppose so,"

"Yeah, I would imagine so too," "(Y/n), I promise you that I won't let anyone harm you, okay? As long as I'm alive, I will protect you,"

"Why?"

"Because I care about you,"

"You're not going to be able to always be there though,"

"I'll try my best,"

"You hug well,"

"Thanks. You hug well too,"

"Thanks..." "Listen, Dark, about what I asked earlier-"

"Kitten,"

"Yes?"

Grinning from ear to ear, he points to the ground ahead of you both.

"Oh! Right, of course," "Hey there little guy, I won't bite," "Awww, look at it!"

"Adorable,"

"Here,"

"It's... so small,"

"Too small. I don't think this little guy has eaten in a while. We should go find the nearest pet shop before they all close,"

"Good idea,"

"Sir! Please can we quickly buy something?"

"I'm sorry, we're closed,"

"Please! We found this kitten and his starving to death, we need to give it some food,"

"Oh god yeah. Okay, come on it then,"

"Thank you so much,"

"This way,"

"Don't be scared, Dark's actually a big softie once you get to know him,"

"But I'll still bite,"

"Aww, there we go,"

"Are you planning on keeping the cat?"

"I wish, but my parents will never allow me to own a pet,"

"I can take it if you'd like,"

"I don't want to give it away,"

"Do you really like it that much?"

"Yeah,"

"I'll keep him then,"

"You will?"

"Yeah, I live alone, so I'd enjoy the company,"

"Your serious?"

"Yes,"

"Thank you so much Dark! Your an angel,"

"No problem,"

"In that case, you'll probably want to buy some cat equipment,"

"I'll pay,"
