hi everybody! i love Stand By Me a lot and i love Bradley Gregg, so i figured i'd make a story based off of the movie. hope u like it :) if not, don't be mean lmao

It was the first day that eighteen year old, Layla Lachance, had gotten back from boarding school. She had finally graduated high school and was ready to return home. After her brother, Dennis, passed away last year, her parents decided to send her off to Vancouver, Canada to attend school. Her younger brother, Gordie, stayed in Castle Rock to be with his friends. He was happy there and spent every single day with his best friend, Chris Chambers.

Layla was currently driving with Gordie, who was sitting in the passenger seat of her car. Gordie had asked her to pick up Chris and drop the two off at the carnival that the town board organized each year in June. Gordie had been trying to convince her to go for the last two hours. He knew Ace, his bully, thought she was attractive, and wouldn't harm him when she was around.

"Gordie, I just got home! I want to rest!" Layla sighed as she kept her eyes on the road.

Gordie rolled his eyes. He just wanted to have a good time with his friends, not get his ass beat by Ace and his gang. "You know what they'll do, Lay. C'mon, please? For me? Your brother who you haven't seen in nine months?"

"Gordie! Stop it, I'm way too exhausted. Can't you and Chris just stay home and we can all hang out? Maybe watch a movie or two?" She suggested.

"Fuck that," Gordie groaned, "I do that every other night of my life. We're young, let's just enjoy tonight. We can get some coffee at Chris' place since his father's out of town and you can get some caffeine in your system and then we're going out, okay?"

Layla sighed once again, taking a moment to think about it.

"Fine."

They arrived at Chris' house. It was actually a condo that Chris' father rented each month. It wasn't nearly as messy as Layla originally believed it would be. Gordie had mentioned that Chris had an alcoholic father and an older brother about her age who just-so-happened to be Ace Merrill's best friend. Layla couldn't understand how Chris' brother wasn't protective over Chris. Ace treated the younger boys like garbage, and although Layla was rarely in town, she'd try her hardest to keep him away from Gordie and Chris.

"Hey Lay, how was the school year? Finish with good grades?" Chris asked as he leaned against the kitchen counter with a goofy grin. Chris was always extremely sweet towards Layla. She was highly respected in Gordie's friend group-mainly because she saved them from a beating countless times.

Layla smiled back, "Hi Chris! Straight B's."

He chuckled, "That's a high achievement in my book. Congratulations on graduating!"

Chris hugged Layla and she gave him a peck on the cheek.

"Aw, I love a good family reunion."

Chris rolled his eyes so far back that Layla and Gordie thought he might be able to see his brain. They all knew that voice from anywhere. It was Ace.

"Can't you just keep the stupid shit to yourself for once, Ace?" Layla asked, obviously annoyed.

"Anything for you. What are you doing back in town, angel?"

Layla decided to ignore his 'angel' comment, "I graduated."

"Congrats, hun." Ace smiled wide. He was attracted to her, but he knew he could never have her. Ace had spent years trying to get with Layla Lachance, but he never once succeeded. She was too good for him, and he secretly knew it.

"Thanks, Ace. Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna make some coffee. Hey Chris, where's your coffee maker?" She asked, looking around the kitchen.

"Oh, it's in Eyeball's room. We keep it hidden from our father so he doesn't break it when he's drunk." Chris stated, "I'll go get it,"

Chris walked out and Layla was left with Gordie and Ace.

Ace stared at Layla for a moment before speaking up, "You gonna be at the carnival tonight?"

"According to Gordie, I certainly am." Layla said as she patted her brother's shoulder.

"Alright, Gordie, guess you're not so bad after all." Ace flashed a wink in Layla's direction and then a terrifying smile in Gordie's.

After a few seconds passed, in walked Chris with the coffee maker that looked almost as big as he was. Layla couldn't help but giggle. Then, she saw another boy follow. She could only assume it was Chris' brother, Eyeball. He stopped in his tracks to look at her-specifically her figure-and then smiled. "I didn't know we had company, Ace."

"We don't, that's Gordie's sister." Ace chuckled.

Eyeball's expression turned from pleased to surprised. "I wouldn't have guessed that in a million years." Then, he walked over and reached his hand out for her to shake. "Hi, I'm Eyeball."

"Yeah, I know you. You're that guy who lets his friends bully his own brother. Pretty shitty if you ask me." She said nonchalantly, ignoring his hand and plugging in the coffee maker.

Eyeball, once again, seemed surprised that a girl who looked so innocent had such a bad mouth. "Oh, now that's a bit harsh."

"Want more? I can get harsher." She turned her head to look at him.

Eyeball couldn't help but smile at her aggression. "Nope. I think I've had enough for tonight."

Layla nodded, turning back and grabbing a mug from their pantry. "Mkay."

Ace and Eyeball looked at each other and smirked. Gordie saw this and wished he was was four times bigger, so he could beat the hell out of them. Then, Ace headed out out the front door.

"See ya later, girls." Eyeball said cheerfully, giving them a small sarcastic wave and following Ace outside.
