"Okay, okay, alright. So if I just concentrate on my power, then I'll find my quirk. Just focus your mind on what you want to do and....."
"... ugh, NOTHING! In a world where almost EVERYONE has a quirk, how the hell did I end up quirkless?"
"CHRIS!! GET DOWN HERE, WE HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU!"
*sigh* "I'll be down, mom!" In a little town in Arizona, almost everyone was enjoying their summer. But a girl named Chris Evans (her full name Christina was shortened to Chris by her family & friends) could not enjoy herself for 1 second. 3 days into a summer break, and Chris was desperately trying to discover a hidden quirk of hers so that she might be able to attend the prestigious U.A. all the way over in Japan. Chris had been prepping herself for years. In her free time, she started to learn Japanese & read up on the hero course at U.A., in hopes that one day she would be a hero. But being born without a quirk certainly wasn't helping her. Man, if only I could be like the top heroes.. She thought. They were lucky enough to be born with quirks. But I guess a nobody like me could never be like them.
Chris greeted her family downstairs; her younger brother was playing a video game of sorts, her dad was sitting at the table along with her mom, who was looking especially cheery that day. "Okay, what's all this about?"
Her mom smiled. "So.. your father and I pulled a few strings, and.."
"And.. what?" Chris asked.
"We're going to JAPAN!" Her mom got up from her chair & hugged Chris, who was in shock at what her mom just said.
"WAIT, WHAT!? OH MY GOD, THANK YOU!!"
"Yep," her dad chimed into the others' excitement. "I've got a couple of relatives in Japan, so we're gonna go live with them for the next few years. Chris, it'll be great for you to get to know my side of the family more." He looked over to Chris' brother. "It'll be good for you too, William."
"Wait what?" Her brother took off his headphones & went over to the rest of the family.
"WE'RE GOING TO JAPAN WILLIAM!!" Chris couldn't contain her excitement. Finally, after all this time, after all her preparation, she was finally going to Japan, and she would maybe be able to become a hero! After the excitement died down a bit, her mom told her, "Okay, so we're going to leave for Japan in 1 month. So be prepared to pack your things and say goodbye to people, because we're gonna be in Japan for a LONG time."
Chris nodded her head in agreement with what she said & then immediately ran up to her room. She was so excited, but she calmed herself a bit as it was getting to be late & she had to get to sleep soon. "Oh man, I'm so excited for Japan!" She said to herself. "U.A. Is going to be so close to me! ..But.. without a quirk, how could I get in? Unless I somehow manifested a quirk overnight. But that would never happen. It's never happened in the past, so how could it be like that now? I guess all I can do is hope that a quirk all of a sudden appears tomorrow." Chris then went to sleep, still thinking about her nonexistent quirk. That night, Chris had the strangest, most nonsensical dream.
"Christina, I think there's something wrong with you"
"Well obviously, I don't have any quirk."
"Well.. how do you explain that tail?"
"What are you talking about? I don't have a tail."
"Well, you do now!"
"You know, you sound really stupid when you- OH MY GOD I do have a tail! How the hell did it get there?"
But the dream suddenly ended there, and Chris was awake. It was morning.
"Um.. well. That was certainly a weird dream. HhhI don't know, it's probably just my weird-ass thoughts in my head." Chris got out of bed, unaware that her dream wasn't just a dream. She walked out of her room, unknowing of the tail that now resided on her backside.
She walked into the kitchen to get some breakfast (it was 12:04 PM, so it couldn't really be considered breakfast.). She grabbed the milk and the cereal, and poured the milk & cereal at the same time because she couldn't decide if milk went first or last. Then her tail grabbed a spoon from the drawer. "Thanks, tail. WHAAAAT" Chris looked at the bowl, then at her tail, then at the spoon, and she came to the conclusion that she was still dreaming. "I've gotta be dreaming. This tail can't be a result of some quirk that manifested overnight, nah, nope no nah."
...
"OKAY I'M NOT DREAMING, THIS IS REAL, THIS IS REAL, OH DAMN THIS IS REAL!" Chris bolted back to her room to freak out about her "new quirk" more. "Okay, okay, kay, OKAY. So I've got a quirk now, and it isn't just some weird dream. I've got this tail, so now what? I don't know, but I'm really tired for some reason. What the hell, I literally just slept like a few minutes ago, but.. man... I'm so.... ti...." Before she could say anything, she was passed out on her bed."Chris, you have lost. I am going to be the top hero."
"Wha.. Lisa? What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to claim my spot as the true number one hero. You couldn't even compare to the likes of me. Unless you somehow got the quirk of some famous hero or something. Don't even fool around with me, you couldn't if you dreamt it up."
"Hm. Is that so?"
"Oh god, that's fire! This isn't fair, you really just copied off of Endeavor and thought I wouldn't notice? PATHETIC!""Chris? CHRIS, WAKE UP!"
Chris slowly woke from her sleep. It was dark outside, and a corner of her room was charred.
"Chris, oh thank god you're awake! Your room caught on fire & you're lucky that your dad was able to use his quirk & put it out, otherwise you'd be gone!" Her mom hugged Chris in bed, while Chris was left confused.
"What.. what is this? Where is my tail.."
"Oh Christina, sweetie, it was just a bad dream. Now it's really late, but if you aren't tired that's completely fine. You did sleep for quite a while there. Why don't you come & sleep on the couch the rest of the night so you don't have to sleep in a burnt up room, okay?" Her mom led Chris out to the couch, where she had set up a pillow & some bedsheets already.
"Now you just lay down on the couch, and we'll fix up your room for you while you're over here. Okay? Goodnight, Chris."
Chris sat on the couch. "Wait, mom?"
"Yes," her mom turned around. "What is it?"
"I.. I think I've got a quirk."
