He still isn't able to swallow every detail of what she told him at the police station yesterday. It is all too out of the blue for Saul, he never suspected it for a bit.
Saul thought that he was the master of identity concealment but Geneva has proved it to be otherwise.
She deceived him, tricked him into thinking that she is as casual and mundane as your regular Joe or Jane. Geneva has told him everything about her relationship with Thomas, about them starting the initiative together and the whole seven year period of doing the most unspeakable of things... one can't begin to imagine and neither can Saul.
The main evidence against Geneva was sent over earlier in the day, it's a security tape from the Professor's house gate. It shows a car entering into the complex after the gates open and fastforwarded thirty minutes, the car drives out with speed and Geneva can clearly be seen in the driver seat.
Using the state of the art technology, it's hard to deny that she is the individual in the security footage... and that doesn't help Saul's case at all.
Taking a sip from his cup of coffee, he watches through the for once more where the sequence of events, like every play back, ensues:
The car drives into the lot then there's no activity for a while. Lights flicker a little in the house, there are room lights that switch off then five minutes later the car drives out fast, with Geneva glancing around.
Saul runs a hand through his hair, unable to pick out any aspects that he can use in his favour. The crime... it's so plausible and believable, and along with the story Geneva just told him he's doubting what is real and what isn't.
He rewinds the clip then watches it again for the umpteenth. Saul's on the edge of throwing his computer out if his apartment window due to the frustra-
TRRIIINNGG!
"What?" Saul answers the 'Unknown' caller rather flatly.
"Sorry Jimmy, I just wanted-"
The lawyer sits up straight in his seat, completely ashamed. "Hey Gen, sorry about that I didn't know it was you!" He quickly responds nervously.
There's a moment of silence before Geneva speaks.
"Well judging by that I'm guessing that you've not reached anywhere," She states and sighs. Saul can't decide what to say, He doesn't want her thinking that he's incompetent even though she knows that he isn't.
"Look I'll find something that will blow the judge and jury away. Don't worry, you're not going to prison on my watch."
"Thanks Jim, and don't stress over it. Rest from time to time," Geneva says, "What's in the CCTV footage anyways?"
"Just you driving into the lot then staying there for a half hour and exiting. It is literally so believable... are you positive you didn't do all this?" Saul asks with hesitation and silence lingers over the phone for an awkwardly long time, "Okay judging by your lack of response I'm going to take it as a 'yes' that you did do it... alright then."
"Saul honestly, how much more convincing do you need from me?" Geneva questions with exhaustion.
"I'm sorry it's just... You disappeared for says without saying anything at all, a day you were fine and we talked but then you went silent. What was I supposed to think and feel?!" Saul argues then huffs, "Anyways that's not the point right now. What's important is that I get you out of this."
"Okay I don't have long left on this phone, the officer is giving me two minutes extra," She says quickly, "The clip has to be an edit."
Saul rubs his face, "But how did they get you-Wait, didn't you say that you interviewed him?"
"Yeah why?"
"Bingo, I just got your source of video. All I need is to..."
Saul falls silent, intently eyeing every pixel of the security footage. He zooms in on a certain area and raises his eyebrows.
"Jimmy, you there? I have to go now."
"Yeah hey, wait I think I just found something that's going to take this case in our favour."
"Really, what is it?"
"Sorry no time to explain, I have to find a botanist!" He says and packs his laptop into his work bag, "Which issue did you interview the Professor for?"
"Umm... well..." Geneva ponders on the thought but can't find a helpful answer, "Sorry, I can't remember. You'll have to check it-"
BEEP BEEP BEEP!
Geneva moves the phone from her ear and raises an eyebrow. He just hung up on the call. Is he realign alright?
She nods towards the police officer, who leads her back to her cell. She's beyond curious to know about what he found, and if it'll be enough to get her out of this sticky situation.
