author's note: b/f/n=best friend's name
i sighed as i stared at my tv screen, my favorite show The X-Files, playing quietly, the grainy quality of my tv making the images slightly distorted. the sun is shining brightly out my window. it's late august and school is about to start and i'm just sitting alone with nothing to do. suddenly, my phone rings, the theme of The X-Files playing as my ringtone, i pick up.
"hello?" I say into the phone.
"hi!! y/n! how are you? it's b/f/n! how's your summer?!" said my best friend, screaming into the phone.
"well, my summer's boring as usual. i went shopping yesterday and got some ice cream. i got all my school supplies already so i'm ready for school!" i say. but then i realize.... school. oh no. school is my worst nightmare multiplied by 10. the creaky lockers, the smell of either too much perfume or too much sweat, and the annoying nonstop bickering from the teachers and entitled students.
"excited for school?" i ask sarcastically into the phone. a giggle comes from the other end.
"yeah totally, can't wait!" b/f/n replies sarcastically. I laugh. we've been close since middle school.
"hey, y/n, guess what might make our last year at high school little bit better..." she asks in a mischievous tone.
"what?" i ask genuinely curious.
"...we're getting a transfer this year" i hear her smile through the phone.
"so? we get at least 1 transfer every year, how is this year any different?" i explain, kind of annoyed now that she got me excited for no damn reason.
"well... this isn't your ordinary transfer.. by what i heard, he's from California and he's a bad boy and super super hot. i think you two would be perfect together" she says. i scoff. no way am i getting with a bad boy. let alone a transfer. i don't know. maybe he won't be so bad.
"i don't know, b/f/n, it seems a little too good to be true.. are you sure i should get with him?"
"oh trust me.. you'll know it when you see him" she says. i replay her words in my head.
"but what if i see him and i still don't know.." i ask.
"oh, y/n.. the truth is out there" she says, quoting The X-Files. i laugh and after thanking her, i hang up. i wonder what this bad boy will be like. the truth is out there..
the truth is out there
a/n: sorry it's so short! I just felt like this would be a good intro! comment on your thoughts so far and maybe some suggestions for future chapters or books! i'll be sure to keep writing :)
