setting: school/diner/the bridge

it's Valentine's Day and Timothée is no doubt my valentine. i got him a new cassette player and a pack of his favorite gum. i wonder what he got me. i smile and take my gifts with me to school. the halls are decorated in pink and red, couples are making out and holding hands. a big poster on the wall says 'Valentine's Day 1991.' i smile and look for Timothée in the crowd. i spot his curly dark hair and smile to myself. i walk up to him, holding onto my gift tightly. his back is facing me and he seems to be talking to someone. i tap him on the shoulder and he turns around smiling a toothy grin. he pecks me on the lips.
"happy Valentine's Day!" i say and hand him my gift. his face lights up when he sees the gum and the cassette player.
"oh wow this is so awesome! thank you so much!" he says and hugs me. i blush into his hug. he pulls away and digs through his backpack for my gift. i fidget with my fingers in anticipation. he comes up with a fairly large box tied up with ribbon. he hands it to me. what could it possibly be? i untie the ribbon and open the box. i gasp. it's a leather jacket. Timothée's leather jacket?? i look up at him in bewilderment.
"is this yours?" i ask. he looks nervous and nods.
"i-i cant accept this.. this is yours" i say. he shushes me.
"i know, it's okay. i have another one. this is the one i wore when we first met" i feel myself tearing up. he did this for me. it's such a simple gesture but it feels like so much more. i hug him to mask my wet eyes.
"thank you, thank you" i keep repeating. i pull away and put his jacket on over my sweater. he smiles down on me.
"you look so good in it" he whispers in my ear, causing the hair on my neck to rise. i blush.
"t-thanks" i say. as i walk to my first period class, he blows a kiss in my direction. i catch it with my hand and put my hand on my heart. he laughs. i spend the rest of the day thinking about him.
*time skip: a couple of hours*
Timothée and i decided to go on a little Valentine's Day date at the diner in town. it's retro style and has really good food so it was an easy choice. we sip on our milkshakes and wait for our food. we order burgers and fries. as we finish up our food, oldies music plays on the jukebox. i feel a sense of calm looking him in the eyes, his beautiful hazel eyes. i take his hand and play with his fingers. he smiles and takes a bite out of a French fry.
"how are you?" he asks. i shrug my shoulders.
"good when i'm with you" i say causing him to blush at my sentence. i'm surprised i still make him nervous after all this time.
"i hope we'll get to see each other in college... if we go to the same one" he says. i nod, sipping from my milkshake. i squeeze his hand reassuringly. "hey.. do you want to go to the bridge?" he asks. i think about it for a moment. it'll be crowded since it's Valentine's Day but i don't see why not.
"yeah sure" i say. he smiles. "it's gonna be crowded though" he nods.
"i know" he says. i finish my food and we split the bill. he takes my hand and drags me to the car. as we drive to the bridge, snow slowly falling outside, i can't help but think how different my life would be without him. he's my everything. we soon arrive at the bridge and go to the clearing where we went star gazing on our first date, huddled into his leather jacket, i huff out clouds. i catch him looking at me the same way he did on that night. i lean my head on his shoulder.
"best Valentine's Day ever" he says. i laugh.
"agreed" i reply. he smiles and kisses me on the forehead.

a/n: hey! this chapter kind of sucks but i wanted to write something cute and wholesome. also Valentine's Day is an important holiday. i wanted to write a Timothée birthday chapter but i felt like it wouldn't make much sense since i don't know what your birthday is. oh well. thanks for reading and i hope my writing doesn't suck too much..
love, nat ❤️
