Clove stood there in the glass tube that would soon shot her up into the arena that would be the end of her. She started to feel claustrophobic, the tube wasn't moving, she knew that this was all part of the capitals great twisted game that the people of the capital loved so much. Just as she was about to start hyperventilating the bottom of the tube started to lift her up into the arena.
The light shined brightly into Clove's eyes, she tried to make her vision adjust as quickly as possible, she knew that once the tubes were all up, that she would only have ten seconds before the game began and she had to become everything that she had begun to hate.
"Welcome to the 74th Annual Hunger Games. May the odds be ever in your favour." Ceasar Flickerman's voice echoed through the arena. Clove knew better than to step off her platform early or that would be it, she would be dead. Maybe that wouldn't be bad at all, done quickly, but she didn't want Cato to be alone.
The automated voice started the countdown.

The bell tolled and Clove sprinted off the platform into the Cornucopia, the first thing she laid her eyes on was knives, carefully placed in a jacket and a belt with a side holder.
She quickly threw on the gear that she had a feeling the capital had strategically placed, she knew that they didn't like the careers dying early on in the games, that took the fun out of it for everyone.
Clove quickly grabbed a knife out of her holster and made her first kill. She tried not to think about the blood that was now on her hands. Before she could find Cato she saw Katniss running off into the woods. Clove thought maybe she could end her now and take her out of the competition.
Clove chucked her knife at the girl. Katniss turned around in time to get her backpack in front of her, stopping her knife and stealing it off into the woods with her.
"DAMN IT" Clove screamed before Cato came up beside her. He looked at her coldly before he spoke any words.
"Come on let's go to the other careers."
They walked over to the other careers, which was really only district one and some other kid from 3 that Cato had recruited because of his skills with re-arming bombs or something like that.
"Everyone, you all know Clove, she is my district mate." He said cooly before going back to see what is in the cornucopia.
"Hey," Clove yelled, "we should get out of here so they can collect the bodies." She looked around at the carnage on the ground and a wave of guilt hit Clove like a wall of bricks.
"Okay, sounds good, but then we come back and will make a camp here. 3 here will re-arm the bombs to guard our stuff, so we can go and get these games over with." Cato barked as they walked into the woods, away from all of the carnage that they in the centre of the arena.
Right as they got into the woods, Clove ran off on her own and threw up everything she had consumed before going into the arena. Guilt washed over her like a wave and she couldn't fathom that she had already killed two people. It was too hard for her to think of the monster that she had become.
Cato came over to her and bent down next to Clove. He leaned down next to her ear and bent down. For a split second Clove thought he might be kind for the first time since being in the arena but she was sadly mistaken, "Pull it together Clove, you don't know if the cameras are watching us." He said sharply pulling her to her feet and looking her in her teary eyes.
"Pull it the hell together Clove! You are better than this!" He almost yelled.
Before Clove could stop herself she punched Cato in the jaw.
"Stop being an ass hole!" Clove screamed. "I'm leaving the careers." Clove whispered before going off into the woods.
"Clove no! I am sorry!" Cato screamed after her. Before he could stop her, Clove ran off into the woods. Alone.
