"Hey Jeff!" one of the guys yelled from a distance. "You done day dreaming yet or what?"

Ugh i wish you people would leave me alone, i thought. Honestly i don't even know some of their names. Why do they even care about me?

"Yup, just give me a sec." I answered

"Jeez, this guy. He's such a nature freak." they mumbled to each other

A freak... Haven't been called that in a long time.

I turned back and looked at the ripples im the water from the wind, it was so peaceful. Sometimes i wish i could be part of that peace, one with the ocean.

"Jeff, you coming or not?" One of the guys asked.

"Yea, ill be right there David." i yelled back

"Its Derek. When will you ever learn my name man?"

"Oh yea. Derek."

"Yea im David," one of the other guys said teasingly. "get it right buddy!."

Derek isn't like the others, he shows the most interest in me. (he's the one that drags everyone out.) He's always trying to get to know me. Always trying to get inside my head... I hate it.

I groaned as i stood up from the rock perfectly placed for me in front of the lake i was watching and made my way over to everyone else.

i just couldn't wait for this stupid hike to be over.

When we were on the way back to my place, Derek told the guys he'd meet up with them later and he walked me home. All the way home..

"So, Jefferson. How have you been?" Derek says trying to strike up conversation.

"Cold. And tired." i said in an annoyed tone.

"Really? You're cold! Its only 50°!" He said jokingly

"Im not used to it."

"Oh really? Where you from?" he asked

oh god what do it tell him?

i replied quickly, "The south."

"Ah. I have some family in the south,-"

I listened to him talk about complete nonsense until i got home. i occasionally nodded and said "Uh Huh" every once in a while. I couldn't wait for him to shut up.

When we finally got to my place i felt extremely relieved to tell him goodbye, until he tried coming inside to talk more.

"Look Derek todays not a good day."

"Why not?" he asked sounding concerned

"i have things to do."

"Like what?" he asked

"LEAVE! please just--today isn't a good day alright?" i said trying to close the door.

Derek stopped the door from closing just long enough to say "I don't know what your problem is or what you're hiding, Tate. But karma will come around.." he said trying to threaten me. "Watch yourself."
