The End of the New Beginning (a hunger games fan fiction)

Chapter 8

Hi guys...I'm wondering if I should even continue...I have some really exiting parts coming up but nobody is commenting! But anyways heres chapter 8 :)

Peeta and i continue to sit making small talk, and we see everyone boarding the train. This year, the interview takes place in the Capitol. Last year, the interview was in district 12, then before that 11, and so on. Next year, it will be in 1. I realize I am in a daze when Peeta repeativily says my name and I don't answer. I snap out of it when he puts his arm around me.

"Ready to go?" Peeta asks. I nod my head and Haymitch leads us to the train that will take us to the interview. When we get inside, the kids go nuts. They run around everywhere, clearly amazed. The prep team did a really good job on them. Bry's hair is in a long fishtail braid, with a few sparkles in it. Her dress falls mid calf, and is soft yellow with a orange ribbon at the waist, which ties in a big bow at the back. She clearly really doesn't like her outfit. Theo's hair is much like Peeta's. He is wearing a long sleeve shirt like Peeta's, exept it's yellow. He is wearing a little orange tie, that matches Bry's ribbon.

In the dining hall of the train, Effie Trinket and a huge array of all the foods you can think of are waiting for us.

"Welcome, welcome!" Effie says, hugging Peeta and I. Her eyes fall on the children. She gasps. "Are they...yours?" Effie says, pointing to Peeta and I. Oh, thats right. The children haven't been to any interviews with us yet, this is their first one. They usally stay home and Greasy Sae takes care of them. Peeta smiles and begins to talk. "Yes, their names are--" Bry interupts him.

"Bryory Primrose Mellark! What a pleasure to be at your presence!" Bry says shaking Effie's hand and mimiking her Capitol accent. "Bryory!" Peeta and I scold, even though both of us are trying hard to contain our laughter. Bry just laughs harder. I hear Haymitch belt a drunken laugh. "More like Katniss every day!" He guffaws, taking another sip of liquor. I scowl at him. Theo steps in front of Bry.

"Chyisanffeomum Fin Mewark! Feo for short." Theo says, kissing Effie's hand and giving a little bow. Wow. Now he chooses to be pleasent. Peeta and I exchange glances and chuckle. "Wow, it's like a cute version of Peeta!" Haymitch guffaws. Peeta rolls his eyes. "You never run out of stupid things to say, do you Haymitch?" I say. "oh, but you know they are true." he chuckles. "I don't know, Theo's got some pretty good competition." I say with a smile towards Peeta. Peeta laughs. Theo pouts. I laugh and scoop Theo up. He giggles. "You're still cuter." I whisper in his ear. "Heard that!" Peeta says. "You were supposed to." I laugh. I set Theo down.

We all take a seat at the dining table, and I sit next to Peeta and Effie. "Well I must say, it's been years and you two have barely changed a bit, inside and out! And your children are gorgeous!" Effie says, clapping her hands in delight. "I like your hair!" all the sudden Bry bursts out. "Thank you dear!" Effie responds polietly. 'But don't you think it should be more...normal?" Bry says slyly.

Haymitch immediatly bursts into laughter, and I begin to and realize what I have done and turn it into a cough. I can tell Peeta is trying to contain his laughter, but he is so close to laughing so he immediatly takes Bry's hand and takes her to her room on the train. "I'm so sorry Effie, I--" I begin to say, but Effie just laughs.

Suddenly, we hear a crash and a piercing scream from Bryory's bedroom. We rush in, and Peeta is out of control, wild, and fierce. He is having another flashback.

And this one may be the most violent one yet.
