I wake up and see the sun rising. I rub my eyes, I was tired but that wasn't that big of a deal. I

noticed a gun and a box of matches on the ground next to me. Lexi was to my left, a couple of feet

away trying to whittle an arrow.

"We should head out," Mika stated. He was to my right with all of our things except for our

weapons packed into the bag.

"Okay." I replied sleepily. He shoved the bag into a dark recess of the cave which was really hard

to see. He, then, shoved the boulder out of the way.

"Kayta! That means you need to get up." Lexi exclaimed. I got up and started stretching.

"Kayta! We don't have time. We need to get a head start and find more supplies." Lexi snapped.

"Lexi, why are you being such a b**** this morning?"

"Because we're in a war. We don't have time for lazy slackers like you!" with that she stomped

right out of the cave.

"She's right, Kayta. We do need to get going."

"Okay, okay. I'm going. I just don't like being scolded first thing in the morning."

Mika and I left the cave slowly, letting our eyes adjust to the sun's light. When we started walking

Through the woods it wasn't long until we heard the sounds of a fight. We knew that there was a

chance that Lexi could be in that fight, so we started running. We ran into a clearing, Lexi was a

a couple of feet to our right. She was shooting into the trees at unknown attackers. She kept

shooting for a while, with Mika shooting the gun. After a few moments, we heard someone fall

Lexi ran forward to the sound. We saw a little girl ,of about ten, with her legs bent up in the wrong

position.

Her arms were all bloody with her bones sticking out. Lexi, then, took one of her arrows and

shoved it up the girl's nose, scrambling her brain and killing her instantly.

"Lexi! What the f***?! She was a little girl! How could you do that?" I was instantly appalled by

what she had done.

"Excuse me? This is a war, which means we have to do whatever is possible to survive. Besides,

what did you want me to do? Just let her lay there in agony until someone else came along and

killed her?" I cannot explain why I did what I did next.

I lifted up my baseball bat and brought it down on Lexi's head. The shock of me, attacking her,

hadn't fully registered before she collapsed onto the ground. I, just stood there, with a look of

satisfaction upon my face until Mika shouted.

"Katya! What the hell did you do to Lexi? Are you trying to kill her?"

I looked at him shocked. I couldn't even begin to explain my actions. He was glaring at me,

waiting for an answer.

"I-. I'm-." I couldn't even say anything I just turned around and ran.

I ran for until I ran out of breathe and even then I ran further still.
