I awoke to the sound of people rushing, pens scribbling and something beeping.

I opened my eyes to see... white.

White roof, white fan, white bedsheets, white beds, white tables, white floors, white drapes, white aprons white everything!

"Oh good, the patient is awake. You had a right bit of luck young lady, you should've died" I turned my head to see a women in around her late 30's scribbling on a notepad and furiously pressing all kinds of buttons on the beeping machine next to me.

"Wha-what happened?" I asked, disoriented by all the white.

"You're lungs are full of salty water, you have all kinds of scrapes and cuts all over your face most likely from rocks and bits of coral and a rather deadly hit to your head. You shouldn't have survived that head hit" she said, her voice wasn't kind, it wasn't even polite, it was a 'this-is-my-job-I-really-do-not-care' kind of voice.

"Oh" was all I managed to get out as the memories came rushing back to me; the sea, the wind, the rocks... I shivered

"What were you doing on a closed beach anyway, young lady? Did you plan to use up our precious resources here in the hospital? There are much more deserving patients waiting for a bed in the waiting room because of you" the lady scowled at me, I shrunk from her gaze.

"Yeah, that's right, not seeming such a good idea now is it? Now, what were you doing and what is your parents number" she asked.

I didn't know what to say, I knew what I sure as hell couldn't say.

'Oh, I was there because the sea beckened to me because I was making it impatient and it wanted to remind me that I need to keep my promise that will most likely end in the death of someone probably me and you can't really call my parents because one of them is the Goddess of the Sea, Aphriette, and the other is the sea in general so unless you have three sand dollars getting in touch with them might be a little hard.'

Yeah, I could see that going down well with this crabby nurse.

"Um, it's all right, I'll tell them when I get home what happened. And I was there because, uh, it was a dare!" I blurted. I had to fight the urge to grin at my, what I thought was, quite intelligent excuse. My feeling of pride in myself was quickly outlived however as the nurse looked down at me and snapped,

"Oh, a little game of truth or dare hey? Well that ended well didn't it? Worked a treat! Got a few laughs out of it maybe?" I shrunk a bit further until everything except my eyes were covered by the white bedsheet.

"That's what I thought. You were very lucky, you can leave as soon as you fill out the papers, however you'll still have to get your parents to sign them" she said sternly.

"Oh, um, sure, I'll, er, I'll take them home with me..." I trailed off under her piercing gaze.

"And you will bring them back as soon as possible, first thing on your 'to-do-list' right? That means before your date with the oh-so-hot football jock" she said disaprovingly, and mockingly.

"Uh, yeah, sure. Can I go now?"

"I suppose"

"Great!" I jumped up and all but ran out of the hospital.
