"Today is an ordinary day" I tried to reassure myself.  Today was no different then the day before, if only I could believe that.  Today was the day they tested, the day they gathered all the sixteen  year old's in the village to make sure there were no traces of Behomothstly.  the disease would change your inner biological structure, it would turn you into something nonhuman.  the outcome was always different because it depended on the persons traits.  The signs would start to show when the diseased person turned sixteen.  They tested every month to make sure that no one who had traces would survive to see another day, they said it was better this way.

I wouldn't be so worried if it weren't for the fact that my sister Alicson was found with traces last year. They say that if one family member has traces then the you're sure to have traces as well. I'm not sure how much I believe that but it still concerned me that this could be the last time I see my family or anyone for the matter.

Brillingggg sounded the bell as I put on the purple dress my mother laid out. it had silk and little frill designs, it was the best dress I had, it was thought that we should were our best dresses just in case this was the last thing we wore.  I rushed out the door hoping that it would be over soon and I could come back home.  I heard the villagers before I could see them, they were all talking very loudly obviously concerned for their children.  I saw the line of sixteen year old's starting from the front row, steeping into line I fiddled with the frill on my dress.

"Good citizens of Stamford, today we come together to celebrate our monthly blood tests. This month we have a large group of children being tested and I hope that non of them have the horrible disease known as Behomothstly. It would be a shame to lose even one of these precious kids but you know if we don't test them and get rid of the bad batch we will have another war on our hands and heaven knows no one wants that. With that conclusion lets begin the tests." said the mayor as she sprang to her feet in front of the audience.

" Lets begin with Cassiandra kase" She said as she ushered a petite blond girl onto the stage. The girl looked  beyond scared, I don't blame her though, who wouldn't be scared not knowing weather you were going to survive another day.  " Cassiandra come over here dear, and let the test begin" the girl did as she was told and walked over to a clear bowl, she pricked her finger and let the blood drip into the water, when nothing happened  she relaxed as "Clear" was called from behind her. She skipped off the stage a smile plastered on her face. The rest of the hour went like that with peoples names being called and being told weather they were tainted or not.

Nathaniel Gray -- Tainted

Natile Cross -- Cleared

Chris Crossifer- Tainted

Jessica Parker-- Tainted

Leila pierce-- Cleared

Ady nix -- tainted

Andrew Pierce-- Tainted

Archie Nix-- Cleared

I was called last.  "Ava Lexington, your next" the mayor called with a small smile plastered on her face.  fear spread through her mind as she stepped onto the platform. What if she was tainted, this could be the last time she saw her mother , the last time she saw anyone. the last time she could see her best friend Alec.  She walked over to the bowl as her mind swarmed with all the things that could happen to her. As she placed her bleeding finger over the water she got dizzy and it wasn't till she heard the drip drip dripping of blood hitting water that she could see the bowl had turned black.  She wasn't able to process anything before she felt a pinch at her neck and everything turned dark.
