The sun peeked through the pink curtain and shone brightly in my face. I slowly opened my eyes and tried to move, but I winced. The pain was still so bad that I could barely breathe, let alone move. Someone had dressed me in a nightgown and had laid me in a large, king sized, fluffy bed. My new bed, in my new room, in my new home, in my new life. I looked around as my eyes adjusted to the light. I blinked hard, trying to get the sleep out from my eyes. When my eyes came to, I was greeted, quite literally in my face, by the master of the house.
Sir Sebastián wore a white top hat with blue, elaborate symbols sewn into the fabric, his deep electric blue hair fell in front of his face and covered one of his sky blue eyes. He was newly shaven, leaving only a electric blue goatee on his chin. His outfit had a suit with a tail that was white with the same intricate symbols as his hat. The inside of his coat was a royal blue that matched his hair and his shoes were very expensive and white. His skin looked paler than it really was. His small, sharp nose was less than two inches from my face, staring at me. It caused me to jump and my heart to skip a beat.
Breathing hard I said, "You scared me half to death."
"Well, it woke you up didn't it?" He said with a hint of a French accent, smiling a sly smile.
I rolled my eyes and then rubbed the sleep from them. "How long have I been out?" I asked sleepily and yawned.
He pointed his finger up and with some sass Sir Sebastián replied, "Two days! You must've needed it!"
'Oh great, another smart ass with sass.' I thought to myself. I sighed.
I went to open my mouth and stopped as I realized how much pain I was in so I laid back down on my pillow. "So I assume you have so many questions to ask, all in due time you will have them answered." He said caressing his goatee.
'This will be a long one.' I thought to myself and just stared at him.
"This is where you ask the questions!" He said with a dramatic sigh.
"Well, I am in a lot of pain and aside from that, I don't have the energy to think up anything," I said as-a-matter-of-factly..
He rolled his eyes and sat on the edge of the bed, "I understand. I am sorry, I know I am trying too hard," he sighed dramatically and looked down. I just stared at him. He looked back up. "Let's begin with what happened the last two days that you missed," he stroked his goatee.
"I knew it," I thought as I snuggled back into my comfy bed.
"So, you came in, popped through into my entrance hall." He said expressing the event with an emphasized boom with his hands.
"Yes, yes I remember everything up until I fainted," I replied.
"Oh," he said chuckling at his mistake. "As I was saying, We figured you had some pretty bad breaks so I called my friend who is a magic healer. She managed to fix you, your bones are all better!" He said, clapping his hands with excitement. I looked at him bewildered, I didn't know people could do that. I must've been so out of touch. He continued, "That is why you are so sore, you will hurt for the next few days but she said to stay put and ride out the pain." He smiled.
"Oh ok. Thank you." I said with a whisper.
"Now," he said snapping his fingers and procuring a cup of tea and a big, fluffy, blue chair. He sat down, sipped some tea and then put it on the nightstand nearest him. "This is the story of your mother, she was such a sweetheart. I miss her dearly."
"Wait, you knew my mother? Personally?" I said, surprised.
"Yes, I was their guardian, adoptive father if you will. I knew your father too, thank god I wasn't that poor boy's father." He said with a sigh, picking up his cup and sipping again. He didn't set it down this time. He just stared at the wall, not blinking. "I knew all of them," He said, murmuring. "At least, I thought I did. Once. A long time ago."
