Glory soared high into the air until she was above the treetops. Her worried mind welcomed the cool air that the night offered. It cleared her head just a bit and let her think straight.
If I were a dragonet, where would I go?
The RainWing and NightWing village was her first option. Particularly the moon globe tree.
Aurora loved that tree. Glory didn't know why, but the princess always wanted to stop by when they were visiting the village.
The queen flapped her wings until she got a nice updraft that took her in the right direction.
After flying for some minutes, her eyes finally caught the faint glow that the light giving tree shone with.
Glory tipped her wings at an angle and started gliding downwards.
She slowed down once she reached the treetops and rested on a large branch.
The moon globe tree was just right ahead, so seeing in the dark wasn't a problem. What was an issue, was other dragons seeing their queen out in the middle of the night. Rumors would start, and that was the absolute last thing she wanted right now.
Glory examined her scales, which were a calm orange color with hints of green at her feet.
She closed her eyes and visioned herself as a NightWing with pitch black scales. Remembering how Deathbringer had hints of dark blue, Glory added some of those in as well.
Now, the hardest part.
The RainWing queen looked up and craned her neck to see the night sky above.
Beautiful stars shone brightly in the pitch black dome. They twinkled with a mesmerizing glint, and gave off a feeling of hope.
Glory tried her best to replicate those shining balls of fire with her scales. After a few moments, she lifted her wings and pride washed over her as she noted that it looked better than a NightWing's.
She was about to set off when movement up ahead caught her attention.
The moon globe tree was no longer just holding spheres of light, now there was a tiny dragonet perched on one of its pristine white branches.
It was no other than her only daughter, Aurora.
With shock, the queen flared her ruff when another dragonet came after her.
Millions of questions rushed to her head in less than a second.
What was happening?
Who was the incoming dragonet?
And why in the three moons did it look like they knew each other?
Glory was positive she had never seen him in the Green Hatchery before. And neither was he a son of any of her friends, that she could tell.
But her memory was fantastic, if she did say so herself, and there was no chance that Aurora and that NightWing dragonet could have met before until now.
Glory's eyes narrowed as the mysterious dragonet got closer to her daughter.
The queen silently jumped from her branch to a higher one, getting a better view of what was happening.
Her parental instincts were practically clawing at her to go over there and whisk the princess away and take her home.
Yet, there was another part of her that was filled with curiosity about the situation. Not to mention that somewhere in her chest, a feeling of rightness about those two was starting to make itself comfortable. The cause was probably because they reminded her so much of Deathbringer and herself.
