I rolled through sixth and seventh hour not caring if I racked up more detentions or suspensions at this point. I wasn't doing to taste defeat until all links were exhausted. The potentials list was so long it would take weeks to comb through each guy thoroughly. The dismissal bell rang out as I stood up to stretch out. At least I was already where I needed to be to serve me detainment sentence. Bringing all of my reading material to a round table I continued to dig through articles and pages.

My engagements were halted by the effervescent sister Cecil, who was apparently running after my punishment today, what joy for me. Her presence was ghastly and the frown she wore was almost as dreadful as her ill-fitting habit. The tunic swept her body into a cylindrical form that served its modest purpose. The nun had no bounds when it came to my personal life. Flittering through stack to cross reference her glare caught my eyes.

"You'll be serving detention with me for the rest of the week it seems Ms. Correr." She stated with a sour expression, "You seem to have your mother's knack for trouble." And while I usually would have defended myself and possibly my mom I was in no position to not pry into the details sister Cecil held.

"It's unfortunate I'm sure. However it makes me wonder if she was alone in her trouble making days." I fished.

"Of course not." She snorted, "She was always corrupting the boys into following her promiscuous lead."

"Boys? There was a lot?" I questioned with fake astonishment, "I couldn't imagine her being with more than one."

"To put it nicely your mother left many in her wake." She gave a tight smile, "Hopefully we can do better by you. Now enough chatter, you may continue to work silently."

Walking away, she left me with no new information, and back to square one for me. Nevertheless, a brief reflection on my curt conversation with sister Cecil was more informative than I thought. I didn't need to try to find a specific connection of my mom's, I just needed to find one that knew her well enough. Grabbing the 99' year book I hurriedly flipped to the senior section. Someone who was in her graduating class had to know about my dad or their relationship or something. And then it struck me like lightening, Marcus Black, the one person I needed to solve a small piece of my life puzzle. The real question lied in how I was supposed to have any sort of conversation with Connor's dad when I had barely even had a conversation with Connor himself. It would take immense planning on my part to cross paths in order to even get Connor to notice me again. I was batting outside of my league but it was my only option, most of the other people of my mom's graduating class were no names I didn't have any connection to.

Packing up my belongings and putting my research on a secure shelf I headed out to the library to the student lot. In a very déjà vu moment, I found myself crossing in front of the lacrosse green as the boys practiced on the field. Their physiques did not go unappreciated, I had to give them the needed attention they were clearly seeking as they trained in only shorts and pads. I try to do my part in keeping people happy, and what better way than to boost their egos. However I did my best effort to not make eye contact with the captain himself, for fear he'd want to bring up the dirt he had on me. Aalst, I was apparently as conspicuous as an elephant and couldn't skate by without a chat.

"Wren!" Sebastian called out, hustling to meet me before I escaped.

"Oh hey." I gave a small smile, trying to be polite.

"Detention again?" He chortled, "I didn't think you had a bad streak inside you."

"Oh yes, very much the local bad girl." I mocked, "But I've got t-"

"Stop flirting and get your ass back over here Hail!" A loud Connor cut me off.

Sebastian turned around flipping him the bird and turning back to me, "I'm sorry for the dickhead that is my friend, you were saying?"

Connor's howling got the wheels turning in my head that I could use Sebastian to get to Mr. Black and to my long awaited answer.

"Actually I was wondering what you and your friends were doing this weekend?" I sputtered out, trying to not collapse at how desperate my words sounded.

"I don't think we are up too much, why?" He answered.

"I'm having a huge party for my eighteenth on Friday. And if you're into parties I can put you down on the guest list, my mom lives for throwing lavish events." I dragged on, "I'm not a huge fan of them but I don't want it to be a total bust either, you know?"

"I'll talk to the guys but I don't see why not, who doesn't love free booze?" He jested, raking his free hand through his sweaty hair in desperate attempt to get it off his face.

"Ha-ha exactly and maybe you could make up the coffee incident by getting Connor to talk to me." I ever so awkwardly added.

"Wren are telling me that you are crushing on that?" Sebastian turned and glanced at Connor who are horsing around on the field, making obscene gestures at his teammates.

"Just promise you'll try." I said, trying to hid the blush from creeping on my face.

"Well of course, I have some injuries to make up for." He winked, as I headed to turn to the student lot he called back to me, "Promise to not get in too much trouble bad girl!"

I groaned and just smiled in his direction trying to ignore his insistence that I was a rule breaking sinner. I decided against texting my mom about what she had planned for a party and would just inquire about it later tonight. As far as she knew I was putting this dad thing on the back burner for a while, however, I was hoping to get as close to Connor Black in hopes he would lead me in the direction I sought for my answers.
