God why did I think this was a good idea. I had been so hell bent on trying to get Connor's attention I didn't think that getting it so early in the night would be this bad. Currently hiding out in the bathroom so that my neck can take a break from being slobbered on. It wasn't that he was a bad kisser, I had thoroughly enjoyed that part, but as soon as he began throwing back shots he became this leech. He had refused to let me go to the bathroom alone and was most likely waiting right outside the door. It was only midnight and the dress my mother had bought me was already began to ride up way too far for comfort. I didn't mind the cut, it was cute and highlighted my figure in a way that was modest, but the material stuck on my thighs like tape. It was hard enough to pull down back into its original position but being all sweaty from the dance floor made it ten times harder. After blowing out the candles on my cake and being sung happy birthday by a hundred people I kind of knew, my mom had left and decided to go home and crash. I could tell she was exhausted, so I didn't fight her, instead just kissed her cheek and thanked her for all the work she put in. My party was sure to be the talk at school on Monday, too bad I would be leaving for Italy with all the seniors, missing out on underclassmen gushing about the festivities.
The thought of going back out into the club was so daunting I looked everywhere for an escape route. Much to my dismay there wasn't one, and I was forced to be back out with Connor. At least it would all be worth it later, when I finally got an answer of some sort from Mr. Black. Another unfortunate event was that I had yet to see Sebastian to thank him for his generosity of bring Connor. While I dreaded another tongue bath, I still was appreciative that Sebastian kept his word and came, or at least that was what I was assuming since his best friend was here. Giving myself one more once over in the stall's mirror, I headed back into the sea of people.
"There you are mouse." Connor's slurred words were just one indication of his drunkenness. As my eyes readjusted to the darkness I noticed that he was being held up by someone.
"Connor, I think it's time we get you home bud." Sebastian said, "We can't have you pass out on your date now."
"Can she come with us, please?" Connor pleaded, reaching his hand out for me, "I don't want us to stop."
"I don't think Wren is ready, she's still got her party to be at." Sebastian argues.
"You don't think she wants me, I would want me. I'm great." Connor bolsters.
"If you don't mind I don't." I pipe in, for sake of argument.
"Told you she wanted me." Connor smirks, still wavering in place.
"Alright let's get you two home then." Sebastian sighs, getting a better grip on Connor as he all but dragged him out.
I followed in line, knowing that the party would enviably die down. I made sure to let security know I was leaving and drop all my positions off at the loft once the guests had left. It wasn't my first time doing this and I knew they could easily be trusted to follow my orders.
I slid into Sebastian's sports car with ease, noticing he had slung Connor into the tiny backseat without much care. Clearly, he had become a pro at dealing with his drunk best friend.
"Sorry for ruining your night, he just doesn't do well after a certain point, and he's too big for you to carry all on your own." Sebastian rambled, as the car's engine roared to life. I was silently thanking him for removing me from the clubbing atmosphere, but here he was apologizing for Connor being Connor.
"You sure you're okay to drive?" I questioned, as we lurched forward. I know that I had a little to drink and wasn't capable of driving, so I didn't know how Sebastian was so confident in himself.
"I haven't had a drop of alcohol tonight, bro code." He simply stated.
"Bro code?" I deliberated, "What does not drinking have to do with bro code?"
"If I tell you then it's not bro code anymore." He smirked, "But, I guess I could be nice enough to break it just this once."
"Pray tell" I turned, facing in on him as he drove down the city street. His face was strong looking as the lights gave his silhouette a bold outline. I hadn't paid much attention to him and had not taken notice of his outfit. A simple navy button down with khaki pants. They looked so fitted on him, but then again, I'm sure anything would look go on him. I have never denied that Sebastian was a good-looking person, he definitely could make a Greek God jealous, but he had such a rough exterior that it was hard to get to really know him. Sure, he was nice to me, but that wasn't always the case. By no means did he bully anyone, but he never stood up for anyone either. He was good looking and popular why start shit with people unnecessarily? It wasn't his nature, and thus he created a wall, so he wouldn't have to deal with other people. Hence why it took until senior year for him to say a word to me.
"Connor wanted to-" he stuttered, at a loss for the right word, "He wanted to...he was hoping to get you away from the party tonight...yeah let's just say he wanted to get you alone outside of the club atmosphere."
"He wanted to sleep with me." I stated bluntly.
"Well he wanted to get to know you, talk with you, and I'm sure that was on the list but not the immediate first thing." He admitted, glancing over to gauge my reaction.
"Understandable, but what does that have to do with bro code?" I diverged away from sex and that conversation as a whole. It wasn't that I was uncomfortable talking about it, it was just that I found today of all days not the best time.
"I promised to drive you two love birds' home, so hence the no alcohol." He concluded, "I guess I'm still keeping my promise kind of."
"Got it." I nodded, not sure of what else to say. I assumed I would just call a cab when I got Connor all settled in, he wasn't coherent, and I didn't want this to be super awkward in the morning. After such a long day I was about ready to give into defeat of my long-lost question and worry about it another day. One that didn't include a drunk Connor or a sweet Sebastian.
"You don't have to stay if you don't want to. I can drive you home." He smiled small.
"I have to make sure he gets in bed alright." I sighed, knowing I was passing on a free ride home with a gorgeous boy just so that I could still get answers. I was hopeless.
"Well I'll help then." He said, "Can't have you enjoying all the drunk Connor fun."
The rest of the ride was fairly silent. Sebastian insisted on helping me put Connor to bed, and after five minutes of arguing I let him. It was at that moment that I felt bad for thinking Sebastian was some player who tossed girls' feelings to the side. Okay so maybe he was that way sometimes, but right now I thought he was just a very caring friend who always made sure everyone got home okay. I would have liked to think that my dad would have liked Sebastian if I ever brought him home. Too bad I don't have a dad, and Sebastian is no more than a friend.
I don't know how to write an author's note but I'm sorry that these chapters aren't regularly posted like I had hoped, my classes are just kicking my butt and I have no time to write. Hope you all like it so far, more drama to come.
