"i'm nervous." eun hye dusts her navy skirt.
"why? i'm excited." jeno laughs, and eun hye looks up with a pout.
"you have no idea, lee jeno."
"well, i'm only excited because i get to show the whole world that you're finally mine," he smiles innocently. "besides, there's no reason for you to be nervous. you...look really pretty today." he points out her white shirt with vertical blue stripes paired with a navy coloured skirt and sneakers.
similarly, jeno wore a black leather jacket over his white striped button down, paired with black ripped jeans and the exact same pair of sneakers eun hye was wearing.
apparently, it was their concept of a couple look.
"come on, let's go." he pulls her by her hand and leads her out of one of the dance practice rooms in COEX Atrium.
in case you didn't know, they were heading out for their first ever public date.
jeno pulls eun hye confidently by her hand as the two of them exit the main entrance of COEX.
many heads turned, and it was obvious that they were confused if who they saw was actually jeno.
there were so many stares and murmurs that even eun hye began to feel self-conscious.
the stares grew as the couple enters a nearby shopping mall.
"oh god, that's really him! it's him! who's the girl beside, though?" eun hye hears someone say.
another comments, "no way, could that be jeno's girlfriend?"
just then, a brave fan girl runs up to the duo. "jeno oppa! can i get a picture with you please?" she asks in a shy tone.
he tilts his head towards eun hye, then back at the fan. "sorry, but i'm currently on a date with my girlfriend...but thank you for asking." he flashes a kind smile.
"o-oh! no, i'm sorry. but oppa, i just wanted to say that whatever you do, i'll always support you." the fangirl says with pride.
"thank you." jeno replies gratefully, and the fangirl scurries away.
"you could have taken a photo with her." eun hye mumbles.
"what?" jeno chuckles. "but you're my priority now. besides...i was afraid you would be jealous." he adds in a whisper.
jeno could hear lots of mumbles around them, and many were still questioning if she was truly his girlfriend.
so, he decided to do something that could make all these doubts die down.
he glances at eun hye who was still fidgeting quite uncomfortably.
"yah, kang eun hye." he says, and eun hye looks up at him with a questioning look.
"hmm?"
"i just wanted to remind you again..." he cups her cheeks in his hands, leaning into her. "that i really like you a lot." he grins, and closes the distance between them. their lips locked in a sweet kiss.
gasps could be heard all around them, and when jeno finally pulled away from the very stunned and red eun hye, he gently grabs her wrist and starts to sprint away from the crowd.
the two end up on the building's rooftop. once jeno stopped, they both gasped for air as the cool breeze hits their faces.
they stand behind the railings and took in the sights below.
"yah," he removes his leather jacket, and wrapped it around eun hye's waist. "you're being exposed." he laughs, flashing his eye smile.
"oh."
"oh? haha. you're still red." jeno poked her forehead with his finger. "that's kinda cute."
"h-hey," she pushes his finger away. "it was from the running!"
"yes, whatever you say."
"so...um...why did you..." she trails off sheepishly.
"why did i kiss you back there?" jeno helps her finish.
she nods shyly.
"i told you...i wanted to show them who you are to me," he smiles softly. "you're important to me, eun hye, i can't lose you again. not to anything."
"i don't care if my fans will start to hate me. i believe that not all of them are the same, i believe that i know what i want best. and that is, i can't lose you. that's why i–"
after hearing jeno's sincere words, eun hye pulled on his sleeve, making him bend to her height. their faces were inches from each other and eun hye smiled.
"if that is why you did it, i shall do it for the same reason." she says, and lifts her head slightly as their lips met yet again.
when she pulls away, she chuckles a little at how red his face was.
"your face's all red, hye." jeno says, very obviously trying to hide his fluster.
"so is yours, pabo."
"yes, but i'm your pabo."
"jeno!"
"sorry."
"seriously, jaemin rubbed off you."
"it has nothing to do with him! this is how i can be."
"well then, i'll be your pabo too."
"what are you saying? you're already mine."
"gosh, jeno, not again!"
jeno laughs, and so does eun hye.
and so, the couple's laughter resounded within their bickers, as these once star-crossed lovers finally have a happy ending,
an ending with their faithful encounters and kept promises.
