"I know it's a bit late, but how are you doing?" Erza chuckled, hovering at Jellal's pace.
"Pretty alright, considering our situation," Jellal replied smoothly, checking under tables, and ripped mattresses for any sign of rats.
"Did you miss me?"
Jellal paused. What kind of question was that? "Of course, why do you ask?" Jellal calmly answered. Erza felt heat rush to her cheeks, but luckily, he couldn't notice it in her current form.
"I just wanted to know," Erza commented, shrugging
Jellal chuckled, turning to look at Erza. "What are you looking at?" Erza questioned, not expecting much of an answer as she looked around the room.
"Nothing... it's just that," Jellal began, mouth refusing to form the right words.
"Just what?" Erza repeated arrogantly. "Cat got your tongue?"
"No... You haven't changed a single bit," Jellal muttered, walking to her.
"Um, duh. You can't exactly change when you're dead, Jellal," Erza scoffed. "But, I could say the same for you," Jellal shrugged, ignoring the way his heart fluttered at the thought that Erza had kind of complimented him.
They eventually moved to the next room after having no luck with the other one. "Gaaakkk! Rat!" Jellal exclaimed, jumping on top of a chair. "Erzaaaaa~! Catch it!"
"I can't, you idiot," Erza stated, half-laughing at Jellal's scared face. "I can't interact with living things," Erza told. She stood in the rat's path, letting it pass through her translucent legs.
"But it might bite me!" Jellal yelled, his voice echoing through the halls, "Please, do something!"
"What are you?" She teased, laughing, once again, "The great Jellal Fernandes? Oof, Didn't think you'd be this much of a scaredy-cat."
Jellal pouted and stuck out his tongue, "Hmph! But st- Help me!" He yelled, flopping down on the floor, as he lost balance from the chair. As he looked back at Erza in fright, he saw that she was laughing her butt off, on the floor.
"Just use a book to hit it or something," Erza chortled, glancing to the pile of books beside him.
"I don't want to hurt it!" Jellal yelped.
"Then what's the point? We need to find a dead rat's tail," Erza explained, eyeing the rat.
"We'll just find an already dead one! No need to hurt this one," Jellal exclaimed, attempting to shoo away the rat.
"No need to hurt this one?" Erza repeated. "Are you sure that you're Jellal Fernandes? Cause the last time I checked, Jellal Fernandes was not a softie." Erza chuckled but then stops. "Well, at least not as soft as now,"
