Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. I awaken to the sound of my alarm clock. After I let out a yawn I roll over to my side to turn off the annoying sound. Great another boring day of school. Hi my name is Amber and I'm 16 years old. I have light brown hair and blue eyes. I'm a junior in high school and not the type of girl people would call "popular" or "pretty." In fact I don't have very many friends, to be completely honest with you my only friends are my older sister Shannon and my best friend Jason. I'm just a normal girl trying to get done with high school as soon as I can. Shannon is a senior, but because she's her class's valedictorian she's taking a few college classes (sociology, algebra, and English). Jason and I became friends because our parents have been friends since they were in high school. So we've grown up together and were pretty much forced to hang out with eachother. The thing about Jason is he's pretty much the complete opposite of me. I'm shy and stay as far away from drama as I possibly can, where as Jason is very outgoing, talented, and athletic. I call him my best friend, but to be completely honest with you the only time we really hang out is when our families hang out together for a dinner and movie or game night. At school though, he completely ignores me, which is completely fine with me because I don't want the kind of attention he gets. You know the kind where everyone always crowds around you, which I personally feel like I'd get suffocated and would need my space. I especially wouldn't want the kind where everyone is constantly getting into your business. Sometimes I wonder about him, I mean you would think that you'd get tired of all those fake friends pretending to care about you and then going behind your back and backstabbing you by spreading rumors to ruin your life.

So my day started off simple. I got ready, drove to school, and attended classes and as usual I could hardly wait for lunch. Lunch is my favorite part of the day because I get to take my laptop to the table with me, plug in my headphones in and listen to Pandora while I write. It may sound nerdy, but I love to write. I write tragedies, romances, comedies, and well just about any genre there is. If I get an idea it will become a story. When lunch finally came around I got my food (a cheeseburger, fries, a brownie, and sweet tea) and sat down at my usual table. Normally my sister joins me during lunch, but earlier today she texted me and told me that something came up so she would probably be a little late to lunch today. My sister and I have the same taste in music so any other day we normally listen to music together and she reads over my shoulder as I work on my latest project. I am currently working on a story all about a top secret spy school. I don't have all the details yet, all I know is I want the main girl to be a princess, but here's where the plot twists... she doesn't know it yet. After a few minutes of working on my latest project, I removed my headphones and turned around because I felt a tap on my shoulder. The person was someone I had never seen before this girl was beautiful she was kind of tall, had blonde hair, and green eyes.

"Mind if I sit here?"

"Yeah, sure go for it." I began to move my things so the girl could take a seat next to me. I don't really know why though it's not like I had a full table. Actually it's the complete opposite, before this stranger showed up the table occupied me and just me. The blonde girl introduced herself as Emily and after that it got kind of awkward. We just kind of sat in silence for a while so I began to start writing a little bit more.

"What are you working on?"

"Oh just some story. I'm really into writing."

"Really that's so cool. Mind if I read some of your stories sometime?"

"Yeah, maybe we can get together sometime. Here let me give you my number." Emily got out her cell phone and handed it to me and I typed in my number and handed it back to her.

"So what does one do for fun around here?"

"Depends on who you ask I suppose."

"Well what do you do?"

"This is going to sound really lame, but absolutely nothing except writing. I don't really have any friends. I mean the only people I hang out with are my older sister Shannon, and this guy named Jason and I only hang out with him when I have to."

"Is he cute?"

"Is who cute."

"That Jason guy you hang out with."

"I guess. All the girls at school are always all over him. Personally I think he's kind of a dick. Then again I've known him practically our whole lives."

"So what are you doing later. Maybe we can go do something."

"Okay. Yeah that sounds like a lot of fun."

"Hey sis. Who's that?" My sister asked as she pulled out a seat to sit down next to me when she finally joined us for lunch.

"Oh this is Emily. She's new here."

"Obviously. I mean that kind of explains why I don't know who she is."

"Oh shut up. So what's up? Is everything alright."

"Yeah. My sociology class was running late. The teacher was explaining our project we have to do. We have to do research on how people react to certain situations. I've decided to do my project on students in high school. I think it'll be neat to write about the effects of popularity and stuff like that."

"That sounds really cool, but one problem we don't exactly know any popular kids. I mean there's Jason, but you know he wouldn't help you. The only time he even talks to us is whenever our parents decide to get together and have dinner."

"That may be true, but I think I have an idea and it doesn't involve Jason."
