Marie was sitting in her classroom, listening to her teacher drone on and on about the importance of graphs and how they matter in real life. She looked down at her worksheet and sighed, leaning back in her chair, continuing to tap her pencil impatiently on the side of the desk. As she sat there, two boys in the back of her classroom tapped each other on the shoulder and pointed at Marie. They snickered and nodded, but Marie didn't pay any attention. One of them crumpled up a piece of scratch paper, and began rolling it into a ball. He snickered and threw it at Marie. She turned around and spotted the paper on the ground. She leaned behind her and picked it up. She stared at it and then back at the boy who threw it. He began leaning back in his chair, acting like he didn't do it. When he saw Marie staring at him, he waved casually. Marie frowned, flipped him off and tossed the paper in the air a couple times. The fifth time she threw it, she extended her hand and the paper instantaniously combust into flames, burning to dust, and landing on the ground and spreading about. She looked back at the boy who's jaw was wide open, and his eyes were wide as well at what Marie just did. She smirked and turned back around to continue paying attention to the boring lesson. She leaned against her arm and continued to unwillingly pay attention. The boys behind her were gawking at what she had done, trying to figure out how she did it. After what felt like 5 hours, the bell finally rang and the students were allowed to head to their next hour. Marie made her way to the girl's restroom, and walked in, happily spotting her two friends, Jane and Kona. The two were leaning against the cold tile walls, Jane in a bleak hoodie, jeans and some gothic boots and Kona wearing her purple and black hair down with a black, thick trench coat, a simple plain black t-shirt, jeans and punk boots. They sighed when they spotted Marie approaching them.

"Hey, girls." Marie said in a despondent tone. She rubbed her arm, as her friends responded with hello's. Marie leaned against the wall with her friends as they began talking. Jane sniffled and wiped her nose, careful not to let her sleeve get caught on the hoop of her nose piercing. She then pulled her sleeve down over her hand and wiped her eye. Kona began to speak to Marie.

"Where were you, Marie? You were late today." Kona asked, referring to the fact that she was late for their everyday get together at 1:30, ditching their sixth hour class. Marie brushed a strand of blonde hair out of her face, softly tucking it behind her ear, which bore an earring and an industrial piercing at the top of her ear.

"I had to run to my locker to grab some things." Marie replied. Jane stood there, staring off into space while eerily stroking her own hair.

"But, you've never used your locker before." Kona replied, raising an eyebrow at Marie. Marie brushed the side of her shoulder.

"I know I haven't, but I stored something in there just for today. I had to run and get it real fast." Marie replied. Kona still didn't trust what Marie was saying.

"And what was it that you needed to grab?" Kona questioned.

"My water bottle."

"Why didn't you just take it with you to class like a normal person?" Kona asked, leaning forward a small bit. Jane overheard the phrase "normal" and grabbed Kona's shoulder gently.

"She hangs out with us, Kona. What makes you think she'd ever act normal in her life?" Kona turns to look at Jane, nodding.

"Yeah, good point." Kona finished. Kona reached into her hoodie pocket and revealed a pack of cigarettes. She pulled one out and held it to her lips, leaning towards Marie.

"Light me up." She said. Marie held up her pointer finger, which produced a small flame, which lit Kona's cigarette. She leaned back and began smoking. Jane and Marie watched her. Kona looked at Jane and Marie, catching on pretty quickly that they were staring at her. She removed the cigarette from her lips and blew a puff of smoke.
