CHAPTER ONE

With a swift flick of her paw, Cinnamon made her fluffy colorful mouse toy fly across the large room in her home. Her small paws padded across the maroon carpeting, going to find where her toy had landed. The soft and chubby she-kit turned at the sound of her housefolk speaking in their language, her head tilting as she wondered what they might be saying. After a few moments of talking, one of her house folk ran out the door while the other headed to the kitchen. Cinnamon turned to see the door slighly cracked open, her curiosity soon getting the best of her. She cautiously padded closer to the door, eventually being able to peak outside to see the neiborhood, the small, comfy looking houses all lined up next to one another. Cinnamon noticed two kittens playing in the yard across the street from her. Her eyes widened and she began to feel to urge to go play with these kittens. She looked around the street a few times, before quickly sprinting out of the door. She only made it to the edge of the road before a large red car zoomed past her, just barley missing her. Cinnamon wasn't deterred by this. She took a deep breath, before dashing across the road as fast as her stubby legs could carry her. She tumbled onto the soft grass on the other side of the road, panting as she laid there for a moment.

Cinnamon slowly looked up to smile at the kittens she had ran all the way over here for, only to see the two laughing at her, before turning around and walking back into their home. Cinnamon narrowed her eyes, "I came all the way over here for nothing!" She huffed in frustration as she stood up. She looked back at the road to see many cars zooming by at once. She then decided it'd be a foolish thing to do to run back across. Cinnamon slowly began walking down the hot sidewalk, her paw pads burning ever so slightly with each step. No matter how many times her paws were stung by the hot ground, she kept walking and walking until she was out of her town, far away from her home. She was tired and panting, but she had go so far that all she could see was a never-ending forest. No town, no homes, no housefolk. Just a forest! She began getting scared as night approached. Her ears pinned back as she wandered deeper into the forest, calling out for anyone that might be able to help her get home.

Soon, Cinnamon found herself at the edge of a hill. She looked down, admiring the cool looking forest for a moment. Suddenly, Cinnamon's paws slipped out from under her, and she quickly began tumbling down the hill, loud hisses and screams coming from her as she was bruised by the rocks and branches that we're scattered across the hill. She cried for help as she finally reached the bottom, unable to stop herself from rolling. Before Cinnamon could even comprehend what was happening, her body was engulfed in water, struggling to stay above the rushing waves. Cinnamon screamed for help as she tried to fight the torrent by using the little to no swimming skills she had. She gasped for air a few more times, before her head went under water. Her paws stayed lifted above the cold water, and she soon felt something hard against her pads. Her eyes widened as she pulled herself up onto whatever she had grabbed, only to see it was a soaking wet wooden crate that had fallen into the river somehow. She panted, gasped and coughed, trying to get the water out of her lungs as the stream carried the crate all around.

Cinnamon somewhat dried her fur with her tongue and paws as tears pricked the corners of her eyes. "I'll never get home..." She mewed to herself as she curled up in the corner of the crate. Her eyes slowly closed, deciding she should get some rest after what had just happened
