"I see," Guren nodded, processing what he had just been told.
"I'm not too sure but I think I have heard of them talking about an important machine," Shinya added. "I can't say for certain though because I've been with Guren's squad lately."
"Speaking of which, where is your squad, Guren?" Yuu asked the older man.
"After what happened, they were escorted back to headquarters while we left."
"Back on topic, you're saying we can go home, right?" Teresaka asked with hope. Shinya shrugged.
"I hope so. You kids don't deserve to live something you're not supposed to live out."
"Agreed," Koro-sensei intervened. Before he could continue, Kimizuki spoke up.
"Guren, Shinya, shouldn't you worry about more important matters," he demanded.
Guren frowned as he realized the teen was right. They still had vampires and the Imperial Army to worry about.
"But I haven't seen a vampire yet," Shinya said.
"All the more reason to worry. Remember the last time we thought there were no vampires?"
"Also we were attacked by a vampire yesterday," Yoichi added.
"I'm afraid the brats are right," Guren said at last. Shinya sighed.
"Alright. Yoichi and I will scope the area from the top of this building. If we detect even slightly a threat, you know what to do."
The uniformed soldiers nodded and rushed to their positions. Class E looked confused, but one thing was certain.
"If there is anything we can do to help, just tell us," Karasuma told Guren. Guren huffed and smirked.
"This is no easy task. Kids like you don't know what it's like to kill something for your life."
There it was. The magic word that gives the assassination classroom strength. Instantly, their demeanours darkened. Their bloodlust did not go unnoticed by the soldiers in the room.
"Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling?" Yuu asked and rubbed his arms. He along with the other humans shuddered.
Karma was the one to break the silence. "Don't worry about us, we are capable of much more than you think, lieutenant~"
Guren snapped out of his trance and cleared his throat. "Er, very well. If we need help, I'll be sure to call."
"Yeah because apparently the vampires are afraid of plastic knives," Shinoa chirped. Then Guren sighed in annoyance.
"Plastic knives? You know what forget what I said. Stay in here unless you somehow have cursed gear."
"Our students may not have what you use these days," Karasuma said. "However, they are not defenseless."
"Plastic knives~" Shinoa whispered, covering her mouth with one hand to hide her mischevious smirk.
"Shinoa," Guren started, then remembered he currently didn't have a threat for her. "Just, shut up and follow my orders."
"Ay aye, captain," she saluted. Kimizuki and Yuu had to drag her out of the room since she wasn't moving from her spot.
Guren turned to Shinya. The Hiragi had a worried expression. Guren offered a gentle smile and started walking to the exit. Shinya smiled back and followed the small soldier upwards.
"How close do you think those two are?" Kayano asked out loud once the two superiors were out of earshot.
"Too close," someone muttered.
