It was sunset. A beautiful, lazy sunset according to Chanyeol. Putting down the book he was reading, the teen rested his face on his hands and watched outside. For some reason, he had loved staring at the sinking sun. Maybe it was because of his father with whom he had once seen the sunset at Jeju. It was so enchanting that young Chanyeol had been left speechless, with only tears rolling down his eyes. He was so moved by such a simple act of nature that he made his father promise to bring him there every year. His father promised but never fulfilled it. That was the first time he realized that promises mean nothing. They're useless. Lies that people make up for others happiness. Why do they even do that?

A loud, strange noise caught Chanyeol's attention pulling him out of his trance. Before he could even check from where the sound came or what caused it, his eyes fell on the street opposite to his room and widened in shock when he saw Baekhyun getting out of a crashed car along with Jongin and running along with another man who had come out of the same car. To say Chanyeol was stunned would be an understatement because he was beyond that. All his systems had stopped functioning and his brain wasn't quite able to process the scene right in front of him. However, what knocked the air out of his lungs was when he saw something that stirred back his senses to their full potential.

"Shit!" Chanyeol screamed and without wasting any time, he rushed down the stairs.

"Mom! Call the police!" His mother came out of the kitchen, confused.

"What? Why?" But she didn't get a reply as her son was already out of the door.

Chanyeol has never run like this. He was not that interested in sports, neither he thought he should be. Sweat disgusted him to no limit. But seeing that cruiser car nearly ramming Baekhyun, he used his long limbs to his full advantage to reach as soon as he can. He was only a few meters away from the smaller male when he saw a man getting out a window with a gun in his hand. Shit, he is going to shoot him!

"Baekhyun! Get down!" He screamed but Baekhyun seemed to not listen to him. Chanyeol crashed into a trash can and tripped over, the car was almost there. Standing up quickly, he ran again hoping to save his classmate before anything happens to him. And thankfully, he does reach in time. He has pulled a shocked Baekhyun away from getting run over.

"Y-you.."

In distance, the sound of sirens could be heard and they saw the cruiser car retreating. Chanyeol sighed in relief. His mom did, after all, called the police. Turning to Baekhyun, a was about to ask if he was alright when he suddenly felt dizzy and before the darkness consumed him, he was sure he heard Baekhyun crying out his name.

"Chanyeol!"

The one thing that never changes according to Baekhyun is the hospital. The nurses at the reception are always unfazed by the condition of the patients brought in; you will be asked to go by the formalities even if the person is on his deathbed. The hallways, as usual, are stuffy with the air being heavily drugged with the awful smell of bleach. And the doctors, god he hated them with every cell in his body. How can they say words of consolation without a single expression on their stoic faces? How dare they say sorry for someone's loss without even sounding sincere? They pretend to be sympathetic towards their patients but Baekhyun knows, oh he knows very well what cruel bastards they are. All of them.
