✫LUKE✫

"An idiot getting to close to the story. Luke- you could've got killed" The next day rolled around, As we were sat in my bosses office discussing about last night, and how I almost got murdered. In expression I mean the top floor hallway.

"I'm not kidding—" I trailed on.

Last night was scary to say the least and I was improvising.

"I sprained my finger when I jumped off-!" Staring down at my hand recalling last nights events in my head.

"Anyway-who was that guy?" I question the man sat beside me, his head buried in the paper.

James took a moment to respond folding his newspaper as he had just scanned through his last paragraph, averting his eyes to me. He sighed to himself, scratching his beard before lighting a drag from an old packed tucked into his suit pocket. Though this was a non smoking area,
he seemed to not care.

"There you go again. Doing crazy shit". He mumbled, the cigarette wedge in between his lips as the smoke escaped. "-But I believe that man might have been Mister Irwin....The club you've been scoopin' out these days is his property"

"-They chased after me, you know! Isn't it bad enough that they kicked me in the stomach?" And I rubbed over my stomach that had formed a light bruise.

It was pretty swollen even after putting an ice pack on it.

"That's why I've been tellin' ya! Quit getting involved in drug scandals" I had rolled my eyes by this comment, I get payed more for these jobs. I need it to live basically.

"Alight then, about Mister Irwin...He must be the one in charge of that drug scandal" this was confusing to me as to why the boss himself would come in person to meet me. A freeloader. He could of just got the body guards to come after me.

"Right that's what's getting the guys in the *department of security* excited". A slight smirk appearing on my face.

"Not that there's anything a punk like you could do...You'd best watch your back around Mister Irwin." And I was intrigued by this man more. His ability to take things into his own hands and actually bite.

"He is publicly known as the manager of numerous High-Class night clubs." My boss James stood up looking out the office window his back facing me. I was curious as to know why this was significant in my investigation for the police.

"But There's also a rumour that beneath the surface, he's an unstoppable drug dealer involved in smuggling" His stare now directing towards me.

"And the search and investigation on the other case was discontinued...some necessary arrangements must've been made top...yup. He's one tough son of a bitch" and I was genuinely amazed about this mans reputation. How have I never heard of him till now after all the trouble he has surrounding his name.

"Wow..."

"What's so amazing about it?" And I was brought back to my senses. I went to grab my camera that was balanced on a side table-for magazines in the hallway before cleaning it with the end of my shirt.

"With the little experience you have, this ones out of your league" and a thought came into my mind thinking about that.

"If you keep doing the same things as everyone else, you'll never become a man-that's what the senior cameraman told me..." it made me relished I don't need to be in competition with myself.

He didn't respond to my side comment only to change the subject sipping on a can of beer, with no mini fridge insight. I was slightly weary of where he had acquired the beer.

"Man it's hot...And this is what-the fifth time I've been stuck babysitting the problem child"

I did take offence to his dictation of this time we spent together.

--

It was the second time I had been investigating Mister Irwin. We had an inside scoop from an unknown source, claiming a drug deal was to take place by the loading docs past the central banks. I hopped fences and coward behind concrete walls, dirtying my clothes in the process. But the things you do for a job. For money.

I paced lightly climbing on top of the bridge that was close by hidden behind other buildings for safety purposes while I had set up my camera. I needed this scoop. After all it might end up front cover for my company I busk for.

"Tonight at the warehouse a large-scale drug deal is supposed to take place"  I remember James said. But I started to worry.

"Maybe he sent me on a wild goose chase" whispering to myself letting my breathe escape into the cold night but for a second my eyes fooled me.

"It's-its just one guy" and I zoomed in through my camera.

"It's Mister Irwin". Through my viewfinder, his eyes sharply turned to face my camera lens. A smirk creeping to his face as I had no time to react as my body was ejected backwards. I was forced to engulf a vile chemical smell. I never thought this would happen in real life. And me especially. As I lost consciousness my last image was man in a suit placing hand cuffs on my hands. I had no idea what
to expect.

I was terrified as anybody would be and should be.
