Sunrise

The heat rises with the sun
To tell me day has just begun.
But I don’t like to be awake,
I’d rather stay in the worlds I make
When I’m dreaming.
Where thoughts aren’t screaming
And constantly being said,
No longer hoping to be dead.
No regrets and no doubt,
No trying to opt myself out.
No limits or restriction,
Doesn’t matter that it’s fiction
If it’s a place where I belong,
Though it doesn’t last long.
Once I wake, reality returns
With the light that blinds and burns.
