CHAPTER 2: The Student
No one would shut up about the new student. And in a way, I understood why.
New students were rare, especially in the middle of the year. To get into the school, you either had to excel, and be a genius basically, show you were an incredible fighter, or come from a vastly rich background and family, or from a powerful line.
Wonder what category this student will be in.
I'm not about to partake in the gossiping though.
School here is tough, and the people...even tougher. If they see even the slightest weakness, they pounce on it, and destroy you - mentally, verbally, socially, and sometimes even physically.
Jane grabs my arm, dragging me to one of the crowded windows facing the Academy's entrance, meaning we can see when the student arrives. Despite what Maggie said and how Jane reacted, she is still just as curious to see the new arrival. Soon, the rest of our group joins us and we all press up against the window, in an almost suffocating way.
It seems the whole school wanted to see what was happening.
Someone gasped, "is that the whole schoolboard?" she asked incredously and, if it was even possible, we all pressed closer. It was true, speculative whispers filled the hall.
"I bet they're filthy rich!"
"Probably a Full Blood."
"...A fucking ninja genius." I caught Jane mutter, and I giggled slightly. Silence fell when the faint roaring of a loud engine was heard in the distance. The sound got closer, and the gates at the end of the driveway opened. That's when I noticed that everything had been cleaned, scrubbed and polished until it shone. I think this was the best I had seen the school, ever.
My gaze was soon glued to the window when a sleek, black car pulled up, clearly expensive and shining brilliantly in the late afternoon sun.
That was another surprise - everyone was up really early.
The car sped in, way faster than it should, and probably a lot faster than it could stop. I couldn't help but cringe when the car easily sped past the large fountain in the driveway, narrowly missing it. It continued to cruise up to the front at the same speed, and everyone shuffled nervously.
At the last second, the car sharply turned, spraying up loose gravel and dust to shoot into the air behind it.
The driver side's door swung open and up - it was one of the extremely modern versions.
Yep. Filthy rich.
The butlers that had begun rushing forward looked a bit lost, seeming to hold the air. A chuckle escaped a few people, until someone stepped out of the car, walking up the steps to the board, and almost completely ignoring them. People gasped, and we watched as she walked right up to the huge double doors with barely a nod towards the members, who didn't look as shocked as we felt, and instead hurried after the person.
It had happened so fast we had barely gotten a look at the student.
Everyone was disappointed.
Until the doors at the end of the hallway were flung open, and we finally saw the new student.
~~~
She was beautiful.
I was a vampire, one of the most gorgeous creatures on the earth, and I felt intimidated in this human's presence. And judging by the way everyone's eyes shot to the ground, I knew they did too.
She had an elegance, a fierceness about her that I thought only vampires possessed.
Every step was made with precision and for a purpose, and she seemed to glide across the polished marble floor.
And then there was her figure, face, hair - everything. Everything was perfect.
A slight tan graced her smooth skin, her nose was somehow dainty while still remaining sharp. A natural blush coloured her cheeks, and a few tiny feckles skattered her nose. But her hair and her eyes - they were the most perfect. Her almost feline golden eyes were sharp and clear, while her hair was long and dead straight, black and white strips of hair wound down to her waist, and it looked incredibly soft and silky. It didn't look dyed, either. She held herself high, giving her a look of pride and superiority. Not to mention she had a tiny waist and a curvy figure.
She could put any model, human, vampire to shame, and make her question herself and make one self concious of everything they did.
Her eyes swept over everyone in the hall, before she turned to the board, who had hurried in after her. After a moment or two where she pierced them with her gaze, before the Head of the Board clapped his hands together loudly, causing a few people to jump because of the sudden sound, including me.
"Emilea Longheart!" he announced loudly, searching for me through the crowd. I stepped forward, feeling the blood rushing to my head while I could hear my heart pound.
"Yes-s sir?" I managed to stutter out nervously now that she was staring at me. The Head smiled in relief - probably from having the girl stop looking at him.
"Meet Zoé, she's going to be your new roommate!" he said cheerfully, and I swallowed thickly while nodding. "Zoé if you'll come with me, I'll give a tour of the grounds..." and like that, they were gone.
And not only had I met the new student, I would be dorming with her.
