chapter 2

Coco pov.

Velvet and me finished shopping a bit ago and decided to take a break and relax at a cafe. "So what do you think about Mr. Mystery?" I asked with raised eyebrows since it was obvious she couldn't stop thinking about him.

"Well I think I'd like to meet his pet hawk." She said which confused me. "Oh yeah a hawk came out of nowhere when one of those guys tried touching me. It clawed his arm then flew away. Next thing I know he's helping me."

"Sounds like an animal lover." I say jokingly as Velvet blushed more. I was about to continue when a feather dropped down in front of me. "What the?" I picked it up and saw it was a brown golden feather from a hawk. Next came a hawk cry, Velvet letting out a squeak of fear, and more feathers. I looked up to see a hawk on velvets shoulder rubbing its head against her cheek.

"Wow. This is the hawk I'm talking about." She said petting the bird. "I'm guessing that your owner sent you to watch over me huh?" The bird cooed happily. "Aw."

"Seems you've got an admirer there Velvet. Wonder what's going to happen when we see him again." I say raising my eyebrows up and down playfully to her. "Well we should get going. We got classes tomorrow"

"Yeah you're right. Well come on birdie." Velvet said as we got up and walked to the bullhead that goes to beacon. I couldn't shake off the feeling that the bird was more than it seemed.

Timeskip

We arrived at school grounds and much to my surprise the hawk on velvets shoulder was very docile. I loved it. "I wonder what your name is." I said to the bird only for it to lift its neck showing a collar with the name Ghost. "Hmmm ghost. I see you as more of a James but okay." I shrug to which it cawed softly.

"HEY COCO!"I heard someone yell and saw Ruby I think her name was run up to us. As soon as she was within 3 feet Ghost started freaking out and flew up into a tree. "Woah what's up with the bird?" She asked tilting her head.

"Oh just a mystery man's bird who saved velvet." I say as ruby kept looking at the bird.

"What happened?" She asked and I told her what I knew. She seemed a bit saddened when I mentioned this left eye.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Oh he just sounds like mine and Yangs brother. He was taken from us by a man." She said a bit sad. (Ruby was also abusive).

"Oh Well I'm sorry about that." The hawk let out a caw again. "I don't think he likes you ruby."

"Oh come on animals love me." She said as velvet asked Ghost to come down. Hesitantly ghost flew down to velvets shoulder and stayed there while shaking as he stared at Ruby. "Yeah maybe you're right." She said a bit sad. "Well bye guys." She said and ran off. Ghost calmed down and nuzzled again Velvet before flying away.

"Strange bird." I said before we walked off to our dorms.

Nathen pov.

As I flew away I looked back at ruby with anger. I shook my head and continued flying towards the roof of the building. Right before I landed I turned back into my human form and sat on the edge of the roof looking down. "God today has been interesting huh." I say to myself pulling out a picture of Jacob, evie, and myself in front of the pub where they first met.

"Friends of your?" A man said making jump up and held up my fist.

"Who are you?" I asked seeing the man had a cane, grey hair, and green eyes.

"I am Ozpin. Headmaster of Beacon." He said bowing.

"Ah the man I was looking for." I say dropping my fist. "You know why I'm here right?"

"Yes Mr. Green sent a letter along to let me know of you and your siblings goal for vale." He said. "Now please follow me to my office. There's a lot of paperwork if you're to join beacon."

"Oh happily. Only one request." I say stopping him. "I'm keeping my outfit on instead of any suit." He sighed.

"Very well Mr. Frye." He said as I turned into a bird and sat on his shoulder so i wasn't seen by them.

Timeskip.

No one pov.

"Ms. Frye. I'm sure your younger brother is safe and sound. He is in the most protected place in vale." Henry said trying to calm down Evie.

"Still he's supposed to contact us by now." Evie said as she paced back and forth worried.

"Hey evie I just got back from freeing some clinkers. So all that's left is finding that kid." Jacob said getting back to Henry's shop to see everything happening. "He still hasn't called?"

"No and Evie is getting worried." Henry said when his scroll went off. "Hmm? Yes I understand thank you Ozpin." He said before hanging up. "Good news Nathen is in beacon. Also he has initiation tomorrow and us 3 are invited to watch."

"That bugger couldn't call us to let us know?" Jacob said fakingly insulted.

"At least he is safe. Now let's go and meet this urchin to get us some information." Evie said walking out the door. "We'll meet you back here tomorrow to go watch our litter brother."

"Good luck ms. Frye." Henry called out.

"Good luck to you too Mr. Green." Evie called back as they got into a carriage and rode off down the road.

"So what do you think Nathen is doing right now?" Jacob asked.

At beacon.

Nathen sneezed as he was laying in an empty dorm room in beacon. "Hmm weird."

With the twins.

"Probably being a good boy unlike you." Evie said jokingly.

"Hilarious." Jacob said as they cone up to an alleyway with children coming in and out of it. "This is probably where we are to meet the child." They jumped off and walked into the alleyway to see a kid in rags throwing rocks as girl with pink and brown hair was showing how to throw it. "What is this place?"

"A place where children decide their own destiny." The girl said.

"You must be our contact." Evie said.

"Yes now I must ask you of a small favor."

"You already stole all my money might as Well squeeze a favor out." Jacob said irritated.

"We can provide Intelligence something you clearly need." She said making Evie laugh.

"What is this favor?"

"One of my friends had been taken by some of the white fang. I'd like you to save him."

"SMALL favor?!" Jacob cried.

"Look I'm late for a meeting do you accept the terms?"

"Yes." Evie said with a smile. Then they spit on their hands a shook.

"Pleasure doing business with ya."
