He grabbed my hand and rushed me to the front window of the store with a smirk. I blushed, not expecting him to take my hand. I looked over his shoulder out the window, the day time sunglasses wearers were out of sight for the moment. "Your sure you wanna come?" He asked with the same half smile smirk glued to his face. I thought it over for a second, I couldn't resist. "Yea, I'm coming." I said firmly. "Let's go."
*later*
"So who is this guy?" I asked. We neared a run down alleyway of apartments. There were black metal stairs rolling up the wall to meet doors to each little house in the building. It was dripping rain from a rain shower earlier and dark clouds made the ally look like it was midnight. I shivered, it went travelling up my spine. I stopped and breathed for a moment. Peter finally responded, like he had been searching for the words. "He's a... Genius. A computer genius." I grimaced, "like a hacker?" "His name is mihinder. And he's brilliant ok?" He replied with a faint smile. I nodded in defeat "okay." I said between a laughs. Something about Peters smile made me laugh. Mihinders apartment was on the bottom floor underneath some stairs. Peter made a fist and knocked on the black door 4 times. I started tapping my fingers on my leg, "is he home?" I questioned. "Oh, he's home." After more knocking peter sighed and kicked open the door. I stepped back, shocked. "Mihinder!" He yelled into the cramped room. A sloppy, tired looking Indian man with long curly hair rolled off the couch. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. Mihinder was a very tall, skinny guy. Typical computer Indian I thought. "So nice to see you too, peter." Mihinder cheered sarcastically. I laughed at mihinders remark. Peter smiled and hit my arm "I know it is M, save the sweet talk though okay, there's company." Mihinder laughed, then slouched again "Seriously Peter, what do you want ?" Mihinder started complained. Peter sighed "remember this?" Peter revealed the USB stick he'd been gripping in his palm, I front of Mihinder. Mihinder gawked with dismay towards the navy USB. "Peter! How!" Mihinder exclaimed. Peter smirked then motioned towards the large desktop computer on Mihinders desk, "we need your help."
Mihinder nodded anxiously and took the USB from Peters sweating palm. Peter wiped his hands on his jeans and sighed. I felt like I actually saw stress lift off his body. "That things a real burden, ain't it?" I pointed out. He nodded smiling "ya, sure is." Mihinder plugged the USB into his computer, I watched a screen of green coding pop up onto the screen. On top of the coding a password key appeared and the coding the closed. Mihinder nodded expectingly and began typing fiercely. I found his typing humorous and tried to keep from cracking up. It was so tv like, he was typing faster than I could speak. I looked around his living room, there were chocolate wrappers and chip bags littered across the table. I noticed he did have 1 window, it was a long rectangle just right of his computer desk. Further right he had a small 90's era T.V on a small table. It was pretty disgusting, but oddly comfy.
"How's it goin, M?" Peter asked returning from the kitchen with a coke. "Um, well the usb's file is password encrypted right? And I've almost got it, but the file itself is gonna take a while to decipher then archive." Mihinder sighed. Peter nodded, alittle frustrated, taking a sip from the red can. "Do you want anything, Violet?" Peter asked. I shook my head with a smile. A few minutes past, peter looking over Mihinders shoulder. "I got the password!" Mihinder shouted. Peter grinned cheering and I got up to look. We all smiled. "STOP RIGHT THERE!" I gasped and whipped around, a group of agents with guns aimed at us stood in the door way, the poor door, broken now. Peter shouted at me "Violet go!" He grabbed the USB out of the computer and ducked behind the counter in front of him. Mihinder squealed diving off of the chair. I heard a gunshot, then another, followed by another, "Peter Spencer, STOP!" Yelled the naked mole rat agent. My hand was shaking as it felt peters hand slip into it. I looked at him with wide eyes, he removed his hand, leaving the USB in my palm. "Get down the hall, go out the bedroom window, I'll follow behind when I can. It's gonna be okay, well get out of this." He whispered. I swallowed the dry lump in my throat and nodded. Before I got up, mihinder did. "Please put your guns down agents!" Mihinder spoke in a calm tone. The mole rat raised his gun. "Come on man!" Mihinder plead. He went to stand, but hit the the floor before he was even upright. I screamed, as his blood oozed across the carpet. I grabbed peters arm, "go now." He insisted with a tear in his eye. I stood and turned around, running as fast as I could across the living room. I heard peter yelling at the agents, over gunshots. I stoppered to make sure I was still alive and looked for the bedroom. I tightened my grip on the USB, the first door was the bathroom, I moved down the hallway and found a tiny room at the end. I spared no time, I hurried over the clothing covered room and slid the window open. I stuck my head out first then climbed through. No one was back here, surprisingly, I guess they didn't care about me. Peter must be surrounded. I ran towards the city and around the corner and sat outside a cafe. I waited for peter to come around the corner, every person, I stood up, hoping it was him.i was so worried he would never come out. I covered my face with my hands and tried not to cry. If he doesn't come back.. I... What do I do with this? I held the USB in front of me twirling it around.
