Part 2: Bad Luck

________=insert your name

You look around at your surroundings. You're back in your room, back in the present. Nothing has changed but you were suprised your mom hasn't noticed you have left at all.  You heard something and turned around.
"Roland, what are you doing here?!", you exclaimed. This was insane, how could he be in your room?
"I have no idea. But this is weird. I was trying to give you this V.I.P pass for any of our concerts so you could see everyone again... Now I'm here which makes no sense!"

"I was going in the portal that takes me home. And you must have went through it too, which means you're in the present!"

"What? The present? I really don't know what your talking about right now."

"Yes, we're in the year 2018. The present. You're from the past.", you tell Roland.

"What...that's impossible.", he says in utter confusion.

"Darn, the portal is gone now too. I don't know how to get you back to the past...this is a predicament."

"I still don't know why I'm in this room. I was literally outside that motel at night about 5 minutes ago."

You suddenly hear your mom walking upstairs! "Quick get in there", you whisper, shoving Roland into your closet.
Wow, this just got bad fast. That's why you don't trust time traveling portals, something is always going wrong, you know?

She walks into your room. "Are you just going to sit up here in your room all day _________? It's so unhealthy."

"Actually, I was going to head out right now....I'm just going to the park or my friends house or something", you tell her.

"Ok, good, you need some fresh air."

"Gotcha. By the way, Mom, you have something in between your teeth."

"Oops", your Mom heads into the bathroom.

In a flash you grab Roland's arm, pulling him out of the closet, down the stairs and out the front door.
"Please, what is going on! This can't be 2018. It's 1985.", Roland says.

"No, you're from the past. This is 2018, I'm telling you it's true. And I can prove it"

"I can prove your crazy! Time travel is impossible!", Roland yells.

"Look, just calm down will you. Let's get away from my house and I'll try and get the portal to come back and send you back to the past. I just don't know what to do, I hate trying to solve hard problems, I'm too lazy for this... Sigh. Ok, let's go."

You and Roland walk down the street quietly. It's 11:00 am. Birds are chirping and the sun is shining. You whip out your phone with a smirk. "Check this out, it's a lot better than the old computers you have." You hand him the phone. He takes it warily.
You begin to explain it to him, showing him the games, the music and camera.
"This is stuff of the future! I can just take unlimited pictures, just listen to any song I want without a CD and, and all these cool things! Wow!", he says.
"Yep. 2018 is pretty nice, especially the technology. Although I don't really like this year's music, I've always been an 80's music gal.
Then you pull up YouTube and show him the video for 'Shout'. "Look, 44 million views. And there's me in the background from when we were shooting the video!"

"44 million people saw this, but we just shot the video this morning....  this time travel stuff and technology makes no sense.", Roland mutters.

You pass a Seven-Eleven and run over to an old newspaper stand. "No one really reads these anymore but look", you say showing him the date. It reads: August 22, 2018. "See, it's 2018, the time I live in. You're from the past. Believe me now?"

"Yeah ok. I believe you. But is it really August 22?

"Yep"

"Oh, today's my birthday. I'm turning 24, I guess. It was April back in Bath this morning so I don't know if it's really my birthday. I don't know how this time travel stuff works.", Roland says.

"Sure it's your birthday, cool! We should go to the mall and you can buy some cool stuff!"

"Um, I guess, but weren't you going to try and find a way to send me back to 1985...."

"Sure, but isn't spending your birthday in the future way more fun?"

"I don't know..."

You lead Roland to the bus stop at the corner of your block. You pull out some cash from your phone case and then a big bus pulls up. You both board the bus and sit next to each other awkwardly. Then you show him some stuff out the window. "That was my old high school", you say pointing to a newly built big gray building. "My college is nearby too, that's why I still stay at home. Right now I'm a going to be a senior once school starts up again in two weeks."

You board another bus and then you arrive at the mall.

To be continued very soon.

Next Chapter: What will happen at the mall? Very bad stuff. Very bad.

(*sorry if this chapter was a little confusing with the time travel stuff.*)
