The Bathroom

Her options were limited at this point. Having left the lounge, she could either be early to her class, and be stuck with the annoying nerds, or head to the bathroom and sulk like the broken-hearted teenager that she was. Of course, she chose the latter option, clearly not ready to deal with more juvenile fools.
Reaching the bathroom, Cheryl let the door swing behind her as she let out a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. The only thing, or person, to be more clear, on her mind was that godforsaken Serpent. It was like the girl had her wrapped around her finger already, even though she had no clue who she was. A side of her thought to ask Nancy Drew's own Edgar Allen Poe, but she chose to remain silent as she looked back at herself in the bathroom mirror, trying to calm her racing heart as she rested a hand over it, sighing as she forced herself to relax.
"Over someone you don't even know.. God, you're more pathetic than I thought.."

Toni sat at the table with the core four and she was getting very bored. Jughead and Betty were talking amongst their selves and so were Veronica and Archie. Toni felt like she wasn't welcome there and she was bored of sitting there and playing with her hair. She decided to leave and stood up. "I'll see you guys later" she replied. Toni didn't know where she was going as she was new to the school, the only thing she knew was that she had maths with Mr Philips next period.

Toni wandered the busy halls of Riverdale High hoping to see someone to talk to. She decided to go to the toilet as she couldn't find anyone. As she opened the toilet doors she saw the beauty of the red haired girl which she had heard of very well. There were many rumours of Cheryl blossom, which was how Toni knew her name. "Oh sorry for interrupting, i didn't know you were in here" Toni felt a rush of tension as she made eye contact with Cheryl.

Snapping her head to the side upon hearing the door open, Cheryl's hand moved from her chest to her mouth, clearly holding back a terrified squeal at just how loud the door as when it shut.
"What do you want?"
Her tone was far more venomous, the intention of staying cold to the girl remained. She didn't want the Serpent getting any ideas, so shutting herself off seemed as though it might be her best bet. The idea was stupid in her eyes. She saw to not talk to the mysterious Serpent. Her mind was set, and maybe so was her heart. Despite her harsh tone, her features softened as she allowed her hand to drop from its spot over her mouth, her stomach doing flips as her other hand gripped the counter, steadying herself encase she were to somehow miraculously fall from fear.

Toni looked at Cheryl. "I was just lost and I couldn't find anyone, so I decided to come here" toni was delighted that she had seen Cheryl again, but didn't want to show it. However, she could tell that Cheryl was not interest in talking to toni as she was blunt to her. "I was just going, I don't want to be late for next period. I won't trouble you." Toni knew that next period wasn't very soon and she had a good 20 minutes left before the bell went. However, Toni felt very awkward being in the same room as Cheryl, alone, so she stood very awkwardly. Toni thought that Cheryl wasn't interested in Toni so Toni decided that she should stop trying to make an effort talking to her.

Coming to fold her arms beneath her chest, Cheryl took a small step back, clearly using the move as some sort of defense mechanism to close herself off more than she already was. The girl before her genuinely seemed to be lost, a part of Cheryl wanted to help her, but since when does the HBIC help degenerates?
"The next class doesn't start for at least half an hour."
Cheryl could tell the girl was nearly desperate to leave the bathroom.
Slowly averting her gaze from the Serpent, Cheryl looked back into her own mocha brown gaze in the bathroom's disgusting mirrors.
"What? I know I'm terrifying to be near, but trust me, I don't bite."
The need to say something more smacked Cheryl's self conscious, but her expertise on keeping herself in check persuaded her to remain quiet and not say another word till she heard the reply from the pink haired student.

Toni felt a bit embarrassed. She checked her watch. "you're right, it doesn't." I suppose I'll just roam the hallways as I do everyday, waiting for someone to talk to me" Toni let out a long, prolonged sigh as she backed away from the girl. Toni wanted to stay and talk to Cheryl but the tension in the room was too over powering and you could feel the awkwardness in the air. Toni had felt very unwelcome by Cheryl's presence. There was something about Cheryl which came across off putting, but Toni thought that it was just an act. After all, Cheryl was known for her bitchy repetition, and she would not change for anyone. Let alone a pink- haired serpent who she barely even knew. Toni noticed Cheryl backing away from the serpent and she did the same. Toni didn't know what else to say.

"Didn't recall asking for a sob story, Queen of the Buskers."
The title fell off her tongue effortlessly and Cheryl hated it. The fact that she could be so rude without even thinking twice was more than upsetting, even to her, but she realized that that's how things were in this life. A hand ran back through her hair, slightly calming her burning nerves as she tried to maintain her composure, clearly a little off set with the fact that the Serpent remained in the restroom. Cheryl was honestly relieved she had stayed. She loved the fact that she did. When she chose to leave it might disappoint her, but for now, Cheryl would relish in the company till her coldness drove the girl away.

Toni found Cheryl's attitude rude but there was something about it that made her want to talk to Cheryl more. She didn't want Cheryl to think that Toni was okay with her saying rude things to her so she scoffed. "Sometimes I wonder why you're so rude to people" Toni said confidently and turned away from Cheryl. she wanted to stay but some part of her wanted to leave. Toni left she slammed the door behind her. She made no eye contact with Cheryl as she left.

As the door slammed shut, Cheryl winced. Opening her eyes to look back at her reflection, she was met with a sad sight as she let a sigh leave her plump lips.
"Me too, Serpent.. Me too.."
Her eyes dulled as she looked down at the sink. It was almost painful to realize that she had just pushed another person away. It was in her nature and it wasn't like she would ever be able to stop that. People hurt her, and they always would..
